hi guys,

have yall' ever had the same issue before? i used my battery for the entire day (around 700shots), went home to charge it, but it keeps showing as fully charged. the only way to charge it is to keep taking it out and putting it back into the slot.

doesn't seem to be a charger nor battery problem, as i have switched chargers and batteries (got 1 original, 3 3rd party batts) and all of them exhibit the same issue (though that's only for my 5Dc).

any suggestions/solutions to this problem?

What makes you think its not a charger issue because that would be my first thought.

Is it a Canon battery or non-OEM?

Happened to me a few times. Surprisingly cleaning the contacts on the batteries with alcohol solved the problem. Maybe give that a try?

I've had this happen with my 40D battery and charger. I'll take the battery (Original Canon) out of the charger and put it back in, usually only once, and then it shows the proper charge level and recharges to full charge. The battery was still in very good condition, after 3-4 year of use.

Yeh this happened to me, not the charger as i had two back then and my girlfriend has a 30D, same battery, and hers do it too. Take battery out of charger and replace, maybe a few times until the light blinks slow. I do not know, could be body to battery communication, happens with multiple batteries ro chargers so cannot pinpoint the problem.

How old are the batteries?
BP 511's and similar are have an optimum of around 300 charge/recharge cycles.
probably time to bin them and get new ones.

they are pretty old, but then again i rarely use them (cos i got 4 batteries in total and i only use 1 most of the time). they still hold their charge really well (at least 900 shots on 1 charge), just that the problem of not being able to detect the right levels piss me off quite a bit!
