I was just about to pull the trigger and buy a 60D body, but the price jumped $100 just about everywhere. :( Before the price jump, stores were listing it as $300 off the regular price of $1000 ($700). Now it's $100 off the regular price of $900 ($800).

Does anyone have an insight on whether the price will drop again anytime soon or if new, non-refurbished bodies can be still had for $700? I was searching Best Buy, Amazon, BH, etc.

I don't want to arbitrarily spend a $100 more if I can wait it out a short time. I'm a bit price sensitive since I'm building a house this year and I'm just trying to watch every dollar.

Thanks in advance!

Have you tried contacting the dealers to see if they are still selling it at $700 ?

As I understand it, Canon USA has a minimum advertised price policy, if the listed price has changed, it is possible that they raised the MAP as well. The stores may be forced to list it at $800 but still be happy to actually sell it for the old price, as they are unlikely to be paying more for them, if the official list price has dropped.

Odd since I understand that the Canon rumors indicate that the replacement 70D may be announced later this month.

I just checked the price in cart of a 60D, body only, at B&H, and I'm seeing a bit lower than the price you stated. Try clicking on the "add to cart" button, then check your price in cart and I'll bet you like the price a bit better.

Still learning.

Typically prices drop near major hollidays say Xmas, then when new model is in horizon.

I'm seeing $800 at B&H. Ok, $799 to be exact.

It's $679 refurbished from Canon. It was $639 for a little while and has indeed gone up.
Having a 60d myself, I wouldn't spend $799 on one.
1: The 70d is coming (60d prices will drop a little more)
2: The 60d sits around $640 pretty often and I wouldn't hesitate to get refurb from Canon
3: I wouldn't be surprised to see 60d's going for $599 (refurb or promotion) in a couple of months if you really are interested in saving $$$

Thank you all for your help! I may just go refurb if I can grab it for $640.

Actually the Canon refurb site states "You Pay: $679.99" for the 60D body only. If you then take advantage of the Canon Loyalty Program you get another 20% off, bringing that number down to about $544. At least that was the case when I got mine, the stated price was $799 and I paid the $639 people have mentioned.

Do a search on Canon Loyalty Program and give them a call. I traded a Powershot G2 which I see you can pick up on eBAy for $20 or less. I have also seen some Canon P&S cameras at Goodwill stores for $10.

I just called Canon Loyalty. They said normal pricing is $799 but refurb is on sale for $679.

The loyalty program normally gives you 20% off, ($799 - 20% = $639), but since refurb is on sale, they are just taking $40 off for a Loyalty trade-in, which takes you to the same $639.

Since B&H is also $639 without the hassle, I'll just buy from them.

Just got my 60D in the mail today. 2,466 clicks on the body per eoscount.com. Was hoping to get lucky with a extremely low count, but oh well. It looks perfectly new.

Actually 2500 clicks is not that high. Lots of folks on this form will do that in a few weeks. Some even in a few days.

I've "only" got 27K in a year and three quarters.

Good to hear it is reliable! I'm not concerned one bit about the shutter count. I just thought it would have been cool to get a 0 count at the refurbished price .
