I was fortunate to get invited by Scott Slocum (of "My Bombshells" fame) to shoot "Man O' War" in flight.

Photoship was Scott's A36 Bonanza with the side doors off...

Enjoy!

My internet service is very slow tonight so I got to look at your opening line for a while waiting for the images to open. Immediate thought was the old line "it's a tough job but somebodies got to do it". After seeing the photos new thought, WOW & what the _ell lens was he using? Super sharp & great background to boot.

As always Jay, fantastic! #3, 6 and 7 really stand out to me. Beautiful light and I always really like the tighter composition you have in some of these. Very "in your face!" and shows the power of the airplane to me.

As a side note, this is a perfect example of something that a lot of people never think about - that is the passengers in the airplane. It seems like the photographer NEVER has control over it but it really makes a difference in the end results. To me, the G(irl)IB doesn't fit at all and really stands out as a distraction to the images. Don't take this wrong as a critique of the images because, like I said the photographer almost never has any say it it. I've seen some of the most amazing photographs of fantastic airplanes where the pilot and/or passengers just look completely ridiculous for one reason or another and it just kills the image to me. Just a passing thought :)

*Greeeeeen with envy all the way down to the tips of my toes!*

FANTASTIC shots Jay! Can you adopt me as your apprentice? I also make lunches and do dishes.

Seriously though....those are the best of any airborne prop-plane I have ever seen and your work only keeps getting better. They certainly give me some great examples to shoot for! :D

Thanks All for the nice feedback...

As for the G(al)IB, well, I didn't set this up so I really had no say in how it all came off. Passenger was a little unexpected, but at this level of "cubic dollar" costs, one does not look a gift "horse" in the mouth. More than one person has pointed out that the passenger is either a distraction or should at least have kept eye contact with the camera ship, but if it didn't bother my host, I sure wasn't going to bring it up! :D

Dandy series....the rear-seater is a little goofy acting in a couple of the shots....Guess as long as the people footing the bill are happy with her....we can't complain.

AFAIK, she was simply a guest. Also, bear in mind that I maybe got one or two shots for every 10 my host got. Having seen a couple of his, her "presence" is far less distracting in his then in mine.
