Hello guys. :D I just bought a Canon 6D body, and I currently have a Canon 35mm F2 lens. I think this lens is good, but right now since I'm on a budget I would like a wide zoom in the same price range. I'll probably sell the Canon 35mm F2, and then later on when I can afford it buy either the Sigma 50mm F1.4 or Canon 50mm F1.4.

Right now I was leaning towards the Canon 20-35mm F3.5-4.5 because I didn't know the other versions existed. I'm very tempted to buy the Tokina 20-35mm F2.8 or the Tamron 17-35mm F2.8-4. Does anyone have any recommendations for a wide zoom for around 250 dollars?

Thank you. :D

Thank you. :D Right now I'm leaning towards this lens. Hopefully I can find it around 200 - 230.

Wow - this could be me as well. I also have the 6D and the 35 f/2. I am also selling the 35 f/2 and keeping the 40mm f/2.8. The 35mm was my widest lens other than a 16mm Zenitar fisheye for my 5D classic before this. I am struggling to find a decent wide angle that isn't too pricey. I mostly do sports/pictures of kids, and not much landscape, so it hasn't been a big issue. But I do have a big gap between the 16mm fish to the 40 mm f/2.8.

I prefer primes and Canon lenses, but I've been looking at the 14mm Rokinon (even with the moustache distortion) and the 17-40mm f/4L because of the price. I like the new 24mm f/2.8 IS, but the 28mm f/2.8 is a little better. But 28mm isn't that wide anymore, and either is around $700-800 or so.

I haven't looked into 3rd party lenses too much. I'm interested to hear from others that have filled this focal length.

Hahah. :D I didn't knoww hat lens to buy at first. The 35 f2 or the 40 F2.8. I chose the 35mm because it's wider and faster. I noticed that I mostly stay in the wide range. I bought a telephoto lens when I had a Canon T2i, and I didn't use it much. I ended up selling it.

I really want the wide range now though. I shouldn't even be spending. The most I had said I would have for equipment was 1500 and I already went over that. haha. I'm supposed to be saving to travel to Mexico this summer.

I mostly take travel/random/concerts pictures.
Based on these pictures I've taken what lens would you recommend?

I use a Tokina 19-35 f/3.5-4.5 on my 5D. It is soft wide open, but by f/5 to f/5.6 it is fantastic. I usually shoot it from f/8 to f/16 - a typical landscape setting. I got it for $50 on E-bay. I have a 35 f2. I got it for a my 60D, though. It doesn't do anything for me on FF.

I've noticed quite a few people like the Tamron 17-35, but it can be hard to find.

These are all "ultra" wide. More of a specialty lens. With this being your only zoom right now, I'd suggest a wide standard instead. On your budget, you are probably looking at something like a Canon 24-85mm USM. Still very wide, but also gives you normal and a little short telephoto action instead of being a one trick pony.

Thank you tkbslc. That actually sounds good, and it's also cheap. It can leave extra money for the Canon 50mm F1.4 or Sigma 50mm F1.4. :D

Man, just notice KEH has a couple on ebay for $100 shipped! That's about half what they often go for. Jump on those before they are gone.

I just checked and couldn't find them. Is this the right place (external link)?

I found it. It says the lens has haze, dust, and fungus. Is it worth it? :O
