Seriously though, I wouldn't be surprised to see Mary make it big someday. She is absolutely GORGEOUS, with a personality to match...5'10" too so she's got the height! I have no idea how I can pick just 8 favorites, but I'll try (I still have 300 in her Lightroom catalog that I am somehow supposed to cull down to about 30). This girl cannot take a bad pic! These were shot with natural light (mostly...the piano shot was OCF) and a combo of lenses...the 50L, 85L, and 70-200L II. More on my blog (external link) if you are interested in seeing some of the others.

Great set! You are right about the model. The subtleties in her facial expressions alone have every photo telling a different story. Thanks for sharing!

Fantastic set, Lisa... She does look very comfy in from of the camera... Add a wonderful photographer like yourself and you've got captures to last a lifetime... Well done, madam...

Nice model. But that was it, nice. I didn't see enough expression change to warrant praise. Her look was always genial. That's not enough in the terror-world of high fashion.

Edited, not worth a reply. I will add though that she's a high school senior, NOT a pro model. I thought she did great. It was just a thread title, aka my way of saying that she was a pretty girl. Apparently, that went over your head.

To everyone else, thank you!

You have to be more thick-skinned than that. Your work is excellent. The girl has all the right external stuff. But I did not see any "subtleties in her facial expressions."

When you post something, you really can't expect all hearts and flowers. There is nothing rude in being honest.

The thing is, I wasn't seriously implying that she's going to grow up to be a runway model...she has been accepted to college and has plans in that respect. I just thought she was a gorgeous girl and was trying to think of a catchy title for her pictures...that's it. :) FWIW, I do have many images of her with different expressions...I've barely scratched the surface with her images yet, and only being able to share 8 here doesn't really give a good overview of the session as a whole, IMO.

Quite right. It is unfair to judge on such a few images. Before digital, if portfolios had more than 12 good images--no matter how good--they got tossed right back at you. When I was younger I used to work with young wannabe models and encouraged them if they had the right stuff to go for it. One made as far as the Milan market last I heard years ago.

But I just don't know about today. It seems like it is even more dog-eat-dog than it used to be with ever more drug use and unhealthy behavior. Being backstage at Miss USA in the '80s was enlightening, what with sabotage of makeup, cuts to dresses, illegal (competition rules) paddings, back-biting and nasty rumors. They should have invented reality TV then. Now, all you have to do to be horrified at the industry is to watch America's Top Model.

I know that when you post something on a public forum you are to expect a mixture of positive praise and constructive criticism, however it's all in the delivery and your initial response wasn't very well thought out - perhaps something like "Do you have any photos which display a broader range of facial expressions from the shoot as this would really enhance the collection", in the first instance would have been a far better approach.

I commented on your FB page too the other day. The entire set with her is simply amazing. You really can't take a bad picture of her.
