Canon G6 Shutter speed

Hi,
I bought my Canon G6 recently and it seems that it doesn't automatically calculate the Shutter Speed in Auto or AV mode. On the top right hand side of the display, it says TV - which leads me to believe that it's stuck in TV mode???

I bought it like this and they won't give me another one... I can only get my money back or send it off to be fixed (which I have to pay for and package) with the warranty. I would however like to keep the camera. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there an easy way to fix this?

Some G6 cameras have problem with mode dial. It doesn't switch camera to mode it should (e.g. you turn dial to P mode and camera switches to Av, some mode doesn't exist etc.). AFAIK, the only solution is to send camera to service center . If your G6 performs this way try to search older posts on this forum.

Did you buy this in a shop in the UK?

If you did, you have the right to get it replaced (or return it) at the shop you purchased it from, the contract of sale is between you and the shop, not you and Canon.

I had the same problem with my Canon printer (send it back to Canon they said).

Where was it from BTW?

I bought it from the Canon outlet shop on ebay. It is from the UK.
I called the outlet shop and they told me they could only give me a refund. They also told me to call Canon becuase it's their product... or something to that extent. I called Canon and they said I could send it to be repaired on the warranty... otherwise to speak to the outlet shop. THey gave me a bunch of addressed where I can send it to... none are in London.

Since posting this earlier I decided I wanted my money back becuase it was more hassle and money than it was worth in the end. I did get it very cheap from them and it was new and boxed. Unfortunately they're very hard to deal with and I could only get my money back within 7 days.... today was the 7th! I thought before that maybe I was doing something wrong since it was my first digital camera (I have a film SLR) but after going through the manual and asking around I realised it was definitley a fault with the camera itself.

I think I might save up some more money and just go for the canon eos 350D now (had a play in Jessops yesterday and loved it! Although its very expensive and will have to save up for months!).
