Wow. I'm just wondering when we are all going to meet there and take our own pictures? Those scenes just don't look real. If the road wasn't there, I'd say the whole thing was computer generated. The shots are amazing. Thanks and truly, WELCOME. Can we meet at your place for the next POTN gathering?

Hehe, not a bad idea :)

That's one of the great things about living on the east coast of Australia ... getting to New Zealand is so easy. I can get to New Zealand faster and for less $$ than to the other side of Australia :) (I just don't let any of my kiwi friends hear me complimenting the place ... Australia vs New Zealand rivalry and all that!).

Anyone who loves landscapes would love New Zealand - the place is a postcard.

Heh, no, there are plenty of those!

Thanks again for all the comments!
I'll get around to processing and posting some more from that trip soon, hopefully.

Thanks Mat for sharing those wonderful pictures. Hope you enjoy your upcoming visit again.

Too bad it's not cheap flights to Auckland, there's about 15 regular POTN members all up here. :p

I'm actually looking at moving to the South Island myself, and getting updated gear, including a 10-20mm Sigma, you need it that wide to capture the beautiful scenes!

I'm also like yourself with some photo editing. I found some folders recently of pictures taken months ago that I still haven't converted. :o

I'm looking forward to the rest of yours.

I did take a 16 day trip myself to the South Island in September, but didn't get ones as good as this.. I'm feeling you had a CPL? I don't have any filters.

Outstanding shots. You are most welcome on the forum. My visit to NZ was in 1992, all the photos are in albums, stored away.

Thanks guys c :)
The South Island certainly is beautiful. I just wished I had more time last year - hence the return trip!

Wazza: How does the North Island compare? I only looked around the South Island last year.

... and yep, used a B+W MRC circular polariser for all the shots in this thread (I think) .. certainly the first one.

South Island definately picturesque in terms of mountains, rivers, lakes, fiords, snow etc (in winter).
But North Island also has some beautiful golden sand beaches, particularly further North. Don't get me wrong, I love it up here in North Island, but to me the landscapes are better down South ;)

Auckland on the West coast, is wrapped by the beaches of :
Whatipu, Karekare, Piha, Anawhata, Bethells, and Muriwai...
(from South to North).. I've shared pics from all these except Anawhata.. Just do a search on them, and you'll see their beauty! Rugged beauty.
