That reminds me... I need to look for a decent travel tripod. ;)

Suggestions?

These are the ones i have combined with a Markins Q3t it was excellent for italy. Folds small, inverted and light like carbon:

It's not a piece of junk... Sure it has issues and could be better... but... It's still very usable. :p

And the body around the sensor blows the D800 out of the water.

The 5D3 is ok. I tried it at a few gigs and it just didn't flow for me. It just doesn't give me what my 1Ds 3 has.

The only problem it has is pulling shadows and that's it. Other then that its a perfect camera.

Pull shadows and flatten that image out! So much win ;)

Ooh, that's a cool travel tripod! I might have to get one of those. It's almost a full foot shorter when folded than my 190CXPro3.

I don't know if I would call it perfect... But I do love it!

There really isn't a ton of reason to need to go crazy pulling shadows either. Between the very usable in camera HDR and being able to shoot 7 bracketed shots, it's pretty easy to get the exposure you want.

For some things. But for 80% of stuff. 5d3>iq260

Actually, the 1D X > 5D3. The loaner I got was excellent. AF locks like no tomorrow even with the 85 L.

It is remarkable how light it is and how much shorter it is when folded down. It work very well even in wind:

Here is another from the setup:

Yeah I can see that but over all the size of the 5d takes it for the win for me.
