I don't mind it, I actually like it, but 500px is far better for exposure.. I used to get way more views on my photos and favorites on flickr.. it's like it just died

I use both. 500px when I want to "push" a photo and get more feedback on what people think (though that doesnt always work too well with 500px). But Flickr is my photo dump persay.

Yeah I try and upload my best to 500px as well as flickr but I'll upload way more even if it's not that great. Maybe I'll just use flickr as my photo dump from now on.

to me.. 500x is all about timing. i think you will get more noticed posting pictures in the day time than evening ;p

yup, flickr is a photo dump ehhe. i use it as a host to post pictures on here. i stopped because of the limited option for free users but i think its safe to use it again. i just renewed my subscription to zenfolio.. wonder if its possible to cancel it. hmm.........

I just signed up for 500px, but I'm not quite sure whether to use it or not. The pictures on there are so good, it's intimidating!

I prefer Zenfolio to flickr, not only do you get your portfolio to put up there, but it's far better for business. I've made back close to 5 times the amount that I've paid for Zenfolio since parents love ordering prints of their children

nice! its good if you are selling prints. i was hoping to sell some but no go. i have a problem charging friends for service :P i turn down offers of payments.

I have so many photos trying to load up, even on fast internet speeds, everything is chug-chug slow. User friendliness is a bit pants, but flickr need to tailor to the masses, who are the iphone instagram people.

Throw in that yahoo is going down the toilet, they need to make revenue, so they will add in adverts.

Maybe Google are waiting to pounce and will announce a nice, new, userfriendly photo storage place. The deathbed for yahoo?

Ah, I gotcha. Yea it's nice especially for clients as I can have 2 galleries uploaded (one for web and one for them) and although I haven't had a client order prints through there yet, I shot prom last night so hopefully on top of what I was being paid for shooting prom I'll make more from prints being ordered.

It shouldn't matter how many friends you have, it pulls up a similar amount of pictures at a time.

Or even going to my page, a couple hundred pictures load up just fine. It's a bit slow if I start scrolling through everything quickly, but it's not too bad.

Thing is still slow though. I am sure a little ironing out here and there, and it will all be good.

Nope, Apple iPhotography. It costs an arm and a leg, and isn't very customizable, but it'll be fast, reliable, popular, and updated yearly!

So I'm not sure how this week is going to work for me... Sunday through Thursday I have a shoot everyday and Saturday and Sunday are going to fill up... I just don't know how I'm going to manage editing all the shots

Uh oh... I've been asked to read a poem for the School Day Out program tomorrow at the school- that I wrote about what it'd be like if I tried to fix a diesel truck. I'm not sure if they'll think it's funny, or wonder if I got my 'crazy' setting set to 'full retard'.


Why I Am Not A Mechanic

I had no idea what was wrong with the truck
it would appear that I was just plain outta luck.
I was not aware of the implications
if the pistons were not in their proper formations
if the flippers' floppers were not properly tripped,
and the floppers' flippers' switches were not properly flipped,
I didn't know which wire to snip!

By then I was wishing the motor wasn't missing,
and wondering why the thingajiggy was hissing!
if the truck disappeared in a cloud of blue smoke,
I didn't know just what injectors to poke!
if the spritzer's sprockets were in the wrong pocket,
then I wasn't sure which one of the dockets
should be plugged into the third-from-left wocket.

Looking back and predicting what would happen next,
I'm pretty sure it would have been a safe bet,
that the truck would explode right in my face
and almost blow me up to outer space.

The explosion, it rocked all the windows and floors,
it blew down mailboxes, and knocked over doors.
I don't remember what happened next,
except rescuing my mechanic's hat
and seeing the appearance of the poor pet cat.
The next thing I know, the air hose explodes,
and smacks the poor cat square in the nose.
The poor creature turned with a hiss and a squall,
and the next thing it spied was my overalls.
Apparently they looked really safe inside,
because that's where the critter tried to hide.
I jumped around and began to beg,
whilst it made laps inside my pants legs.

The next thing I know, my nose is in an oil pan,
and out on the lawn was a news crew's van
with mechanical experts from Fotta-Fa-Zoo,
telling the audience what not to do!
"He pushed the wrong plunger! He pulled the wrong plug!"
one expert shouted, while clutching his mug.
Another cut in and began to chatter,
explaining the cause of the commotion and clatter.
"The walla-wa-zooza was painted green,
so it should have plugged into slot number three!
The fizzalagooga was programmed as such,
that the engine's exhaust packed way too much punch!"

Soon the whole neighborhood was gathered there,
the entire town council, and even the mayor!
They weren't quite sure whether to hide or stare
(Probably on account of my burnt crispy hair.)
Then the Sheriff showed up, and with an important air,
said, "My fellow, you've given us all quite a scare!
And while we're all really glad that you're still alive,
I'm afraid I must give you a terrible fine!
The exhaust pipe flew off and hit Riley's dog,
the engine contaminated the cranberry bog!
The oil that I'm sure you can plainly see,
has leaked down the road and right into the street!
Mr. Jones, who was walking to the mailbox and back,
got hit in the head by a flying cat!
So for disturbing the peace, and frightening three clowns,
I'm afraid we can no longer have you in town.
However, IF you agree to never play mechanic,
and don't mess with an engine, or make the town panic,
then I'm sure that you can stay,
for a couple days, anyways.
We're confiscating your wrenches and sockets,
since you no longer have to adjust your trucks' sprockets."
He wished me well, and went on his way,
and the town assured me that I could stay,
(If I just stayed out of the way).

About that time, I awoke in a panic,
and that is why I am not a mechanic.
