I bought a Canon 6D that I've been wanting since it came out because of the high ISO performance. It's something I wished to have for a long time. I love taking pictures at concerts, and love taking pictures at night. I have finally bought the Canon 6D, and I can't even enjoy it because I've been feeling guilty about the purchase.

I was happy with my T2i, and a cousin from Mexico asked if I would sell him my camera. At first I was doubting, but I decided to sell it so that I can upgrade or switch to a different system. I've had different systems in the past month, and now I'm back to Canon with the 6D. I want to stick with one already, so that I can focus on saving money towards better lenses.

What I liked about the Olympus OM-D was how great the stabilization is. It allowed me to take pictures with a shutter speed of 1 second, and it was still sharp. It helped me to keep the ISO low. What I don't like about is that I feel it's expensive for the smaller sensor, but I guess that is also because of the small size? It's expensive compared to the T4i! I don't think I'd buy another m4/3 camera because I'd want IBIS, so I'd only consider the OM-D. I didn't mine carrying the camera around with me because of the size. The lenses that I want for it are expensive though. I'd feel guilty with just the OM-D + 12mm F2 + flash because it would be near the price of the Canon 6D body.

I also had a Pentax K-5 II, and the Pentax is a great camera, but it has things that I couldn't get used to. At first I wasn't happy with it because the focus was slow with the Pentax 18-135mm. I bought the SIgma 30mm F1.4, and was amazed at how fast it focused and in near darkness! The white balance seemed to be off most of the time, but it wouldn't be a problem if I shot raw. The video is good when there is a lot of light. I didn't like the quality at night. I also wish I could choose the settings. They don't have fast/wide primes at a good price. The one that I was thinking of was the Pentax 14mm F2.8, but I feel that with the same money I could just buy the Sigma 10-20mm. I really loved the dynamic range though. I was surprised at what I was able to recover from black areas. :O

The Canon 6D has such good quality at high ISOs, and that's the reason I bought it. I've been feeling very guilty though. I can't get over the fact that I could have bought a cheap body T4i or Pentax K-30, and bought good lenses for it. The video for Canon looks good at high ISO also, but when handheld the handshake is very noticeable. I like doing random videos. Sometimes I just capture videos at random moments, and make something out of it. There is also moire. I'm also nervous to carry the camera with me because it's so expensive for me. I'm planning on going to Mexico this summer, and they have rainy summers so I'd be worried on carrying such an expensive camera when there is a chance I might be somewhere when it starts to rain.

I wish I would decide on a system already! I thought about Nikon because I love that they have very good dynamic range, and I love their color output on jpg, but the camera doesn't feel right on my hands. I also don't like the button placement.

Right now I don't know if I should sell the 6D, and buy:

The T4i with Tokina 11-16 F2.8 and Sigma 30mm F1.4, which would be around 1350. I don't want to deal with front focusing problems though. It's too bad the camera doesn't have micro AF adjust.

The Pentax K-30 with Sigma 10-20 and a manual Pentax 50mm F1.7 lens (I already have the Sigma 30mm F1.4 for Pentax), which would be around 1070 dollars. I'm undecided about this Pentax because the video doesn't look so good, but it has more video settings compared to the Pentax K-5 II.

The Pentax K-5 IIs body and stay with my Sigma 30mm F1.4, so I'd spend about 1150 for the body.

Go back to Olympus OM-D with 12-50mm and the Panasonic 20mm F1.7, which would also be around 1350.

I think 60 percent of the time I take pictures, and 40 percent I do video. I would like to have the best of both. I feel like the Panasonic GH3 is too expensive. Sorry for this long post. I just don't know what to do.

Right now with the 6D I'm still deciding on what lenses to buy if I decide to keep it. I want a cheap zoom lens, and a fast prime. I have the 35mm F2, and I like it. I really want the 50mm F1.4 though. The thing is I'd be using money from what I had saved to spend this summer in Mexico.

I'm a bit worried about price because I'm a university student, and I don't have a steady income. I'm a webmaster, but sometimes the website doesn't need any updates so there isn't much money. Before I wouldn't feel worried, but the older I become the more I start to think about income. I like to have enough to pay for the bills a year in advanced just in case an emergency comes up and I don't have any income coming in I'd have the money to pay the bills while I find something.

What would you do? I'd be able to afford more lenses around September, but don't know if I want to wait to buy those lenses. I'd want to use them in Mexico this summer.

I own both a 6D and m43. So that's what you should do :)

Honestly, you are going to have to just settle down into something. Full frame image quality is superior to m43, but m43 is much more portable. Cost is a wash, really coming down to which lenses you choose. m43 has some pretty expensive lenses, but also some pretty cheap ones. Canon, too.

Really, you have to start with what you shoot. That can drive equipment decisions.

6D: 50, 85, 28-75, 70-210USM, 430EXii.
EOS-M: 22, 18-55

I wish I could afford both, but I can't now. haha.

I love FF image quality, but I'm just wondering if now was the right time to upgrade. I would have been able to afford it, and not feel guilty later this year. I'll just have to save up every penny.

I mostly shoot wide. On the Olympus I didn't really use the Panasonic 25mm F1.4 unless there wasn't a lot of light. I mostly stayed at 12mm from the kit lens. When I had Canon I had the kit lens and Sigma 30mm F1.4, and would use the kit lens at 18mm and would switch to the Sigma 30mm at night.

Now I only have the Canon 35mm F2, and it seems right for me. Now I want a cheap zoom, and later this year will probably buy the Canon 50mm F1.4.

Looks to me like you shoot a lot of video. 40% is quite a chunk dedicated to video.

I rented the OM-D expecting it too be too small, feel awkard, and not really deliver. I came away after a weekend with it (+ PL25 1.4) extremely impressed. It actually was comfortable in my hand and was a brick! That thing feels like a tank. I know adding the grip would make it feel even better, but that's another $300...yikes! I found OM-D ISO 6400 better than 6400 on my 60d. Yes, there is a difference in the DOF you get on a m4/3 compared to APS-C or FF, but that is a plus/minus situation. Good in some instances, bad in others. In video, super shallow DOF makes focusing harder. In photos, you may want the fall off to be faster, so FF is better choice.
The OM-D's touch focus was something I didn't think I'd use much but ended up being one of my favorite features. I could get the shot I wanted so much faster than with my DSLR because I don't focus and recompose, or move the focus point around, just touch and go (near instant focus and shooting). The stabilization of the of the OM-D and size make it easier to take with you and shoot video on the fly with great results.
With the 60d the ISO will be better but that comes at the cost of size and weight. You'll need an IS lens for stabilizaion in video to even come close to the OM-D so you're looking at expensive lenses becasue the 35 f2 and 50 1.4 don't have it. Tamron's IS is supperb in video mode...but that's extra cost.
So you're looking at the cost of the 6d with some form of IS lens vs the OM-D with kit zoom AND 12 f2 AND flash (for near body alone $ of 6d).

I would go with the OM-D if it were me. The weight, in body IS, an lower cost make it closer to the hybrid camera/cost performance it really looks like you need.

*Pentax I left off because you don't like the video already.
*T4i I left off because I prefer the OM-D to a Rebel (as a T3i and T2i owner).
*the GH3 doesn't have in-body IS so you have to factor in cost of an IS lens.

You are overthinking. Just keep the 6D and enjoy the camera. Go outside and take some pictures.

After not having any cameras for a while I did miss the Olympus. Do you have any comparative shots from the OM-D and the 60D? :O I didn't think I would like the touch to focus either, but I got used to it. The only thing I didn't from the OM-D was the viewfinder. I don't thin it's bad, it's better compared to the NEX cameras. I just didn't use it much.

Hahah. I can't believe I actually wrote all that. I'm not much of a writer!

I think that is what I need to do. Go out and just enjoy the camera. I'll be taking it out tomorrow for the first time. :D

I don't think I'd like to go back to a point and shoot camera because of the quality, but Nikon just announced an APS-C point and shoot camera. It is 1100 dollars though. :X

I didn't know there was a camera with 4K video. :O

Just relax and enjoy the camera. Learn the lens(es) you've got and become expert with them, then figure out what you really need. Upgrade over time - you can't buy them all at once.

6 years ago I struggled with the price of the 30D, but I bought it and got some great photos, many of my newborn children. I'll never be able to recapture that time, but I've got some great images to look back on, and not for a second do I regret buying it.
