I am not a pro nor am I thinking of going pro with my video shooting.
I currently have a Canon HF M500, although I like the cam it has some short comings I want to try to overcome.
I shoot mostly landscape/architectural/documentary type footage.

1. I have issues with low light/noise, zooming, panning. Losing detail in the zoom/pan features.

2. My budget is around 2500, but I have seen Sony's new cams for around 3500 (NEX Vg900 - NEX-EA50) and may go there, since they are new technology and will last me a few years.

3. I really like the Canon XA10, but the technology is getting a little old and I wonder if this unit will be updated relatively soon by Canon?

4. I also have looked at the XF 100 - I wonder if I can edit this footage in CS6/Elements Premiere 11?

I have all Canon still gear - 5D3/7D and 16-35/24-70/70-200/100L/135l/ 50f1.4/ 85f1.8 . I am not too interested at this time to use this equipment for video though.

5. What do you think of the Sony gear vs Canon gear?

6. Can I use my Canon lenses with the Sony cams?

Thanks for the help, I appreciate your time!

just a few of my thoughts...
Pierre

Hmm... the XF100 technically has a good codec, but it's too expensive for the fact that it offers only one sensor, camcorders in that price bracket should have at least 3 chips.

You can get the Panasonic AC130A for $3000 at B&H, which IMO is a pretty darn good price for what it offers: http://www.bhphotovideo.com …A_AVCCAM_HD_Handheld.html (external link)
1/3" chips, waveform, XLR audio inputs, fully manual and has a pretty good zoom range on the lens too - equivalent to 28-600mm.

I myself am partial to Panasonic camcorders, because they have a lot of features for their price, even some of their cheaper models are not far off in image quality to their upper-end models. The new XC-H920 is going to have some pretty nifty tech for only $1000, such as a BSI sensor, and 1080p chips that use pixel-shifting to generate an even higher resolution internal image that's scaled back down to 1080p. If only that kind of tech was on my $$$$ HPX-370!

Check out this video of the X920, you can really see the 5-axis stabilizer in action, especially in the telephoto shots: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=12exxl6ZXVU (external link)

I acquired an expensive camera so I can hang out in forums, annoy wedding photographers during formals and look down on P&S users... all the while telling people it's the photographer, not the camera.
