We had a grand time in Florida, shooting lots of stuff with Andres who graciously dedicated a great deal of time to taking us about. The parks there are filled with amazing stuff and the entire trip was absolutely awesome! Deni changed my light so that my shots could have a more pleasing effect and I do think it has worked! (The rest obviously is entirely up to me!)

I still have to learn about lighting, these look great to me! I like the water drop on the wasp and the beautiful detailed pattern on the skipper.

Thank you, Killerclown. Mastering light is an ongoing learning experience, as I have discovered and perfection comes with experience and the approval of the masterful eyes of those who have gone beyond that which I now know is of utmost importance. It's like learning to walk; first we creep along, then we stand erect and voila, before you know it, you're taking off in a mad run of confidence! :)

I think I will be crawling for a long time yet, the macro boffins make lighting look easy, macro light both natural and artificial is a pain, I know all photography is about the use and control of light but macro seems to have a different rule book....

It is quite okay to crawl & there is no hurry; mastering the light does take time. I suggest you refer to Lord V's excellent write up about macrophotography. You can cut and paste this link into your browser and check out the instructions and suggestions from him...

In the end, it is all about having fun and learning until you have achieved your desired effect. Give yourself time and you will eventually fly! :) (PS: My knees are quite sore from still crawling!)

Toby, there are a multitude of trails in the parks we visited. At one particular spot, we were told not to venture too distantly in a secluded & dense area as there may be snakes and/or crocs, both of which one should be quite aware of! At the Everglades, there are pathways and trails all about. There is some great information on the Net about the Everglades and doing a bit of research would help you along the way. (We do plan Costa Rica next Winter and look forward to that immensely. Hey, the more the merrier!) :)
