I ended up in DC with a friend today (kids weren't feeling well and up to doing the Kite Festival) and it was a beautiful day. The Cherry Blossoms were all still just buds, but the good news is that the Indicator Tree is in full bloom. This time next week should look beautiful!

That's what I was thinking, later this week. I'm too busy to go tomorrow and probably can do it on Friday so I can run back home on the bus. But let me know. I park at the back streets by the bus route if I drive. Just can't take the kids out of school, they aren't little guys anymore.

Nice shot of the blossoms.

I don't think it happened yet. This weekend would be great for it. I would try to get it together, but unfortunately I have to work this weekend!

I am waiting for the date for certain... I think next week was mentioned, and I don't think they like to go on weekends.

I wonder if the video editors on The Titanic ever went, "Sorry, I can't right now. I'm busy synching the Titanic..."

According to the bloom schedule, the flowers are at the puffy white stage today. Peak bloom is expected in a couple of days. I think this weekend is ideal if you guys want to set a date to meet. It's going to be PACKED with people as always though :(

Has anyone confirmed that the blossoms have bloomed? I don't think they have a live web cam running (or do they?)

I'm assuming they have someone check it. I have a small cherry blossom tree behind my house and I found their post dates are pretty close to what that tree showed. I live about 1.5 hrs from DC.

I passed by a cherry blossom tree this morning less than 30 minutes outside of DC and from the car it looks like they are getting close (if not already there).

Anybody know the best place to park? And least expensive too? I'm planning to take the bus but takes too long (almost 4 hrs from Philly). Train will probably cost a lot so driving will just be a good option for me.

I'm planning on coming in to the Fairfax/Vienna line, and coming in on the subway. If it ever happens, and if Dad decides to go. He probably won't like the last-minute lets-go-to-DC decision.

In the past there's been free parking and a shuttle service from East Potomac Park (external link).

Last I heard, Suzyview was planning to head down next Thurs. (11th). I probably won't make that - we go to closing on the 12th. You might also, if you're near Martinsburg, Duffields, Harper's Ferry or Brunswick, consider taking MARC to Union Station (external link) and Metro from there.

I'll probably rely on my iPhone a lot. Which could be bad; I'm liable to end up in Detroit. I can't see us taking the Harpers Ferry or Martinsburg line... Dad will probably want to drive close.
When does the metro shut down? I'm thinking we were on one of the last trains at around 8... We may have to drive into the city if that's the case. I am hoping for a good sunset.

Is anyone going tomorrow for sure? I haven't heard anything else, so...
