I agree, seems like you want the 8-16mm! I'd say go for it - sorry can't/won't talk you out of it.

I'd go Sigma (10-20) over the Canon 10-22. It is cheaper and is close to the Canon in performance (yes the Canon is better but not by much). Plus with a 1.4X TC the Sigma can be used on a FF camera for the entire range (no modification to the lens) with little to no vignetting.
