Under those conditions my day rate applies. I'd text that back.

Canons to the left, Canons to the right,
We hold our L glass toward the light,
Digitizing in a snap reflective glory
That will forever tell our imaged story.

How much does the "ex" want to pay you to help make him look good?

I'm thinking day rate plus $$ to license the images they want.

Sounds like somebody is taking themselves way too seriously. Too many objectionable clauses in there.

i think i'm more interested that she relies on her "ex" for her brand image.

To get him to say "yes", obviously.

Maybe that's how she kept her "ex" on retainer.

It is not out of the ordinary to have someone else retouch images after the shoot but typically the model is not the one to choose them. I would request to see the portfolio of the retoucher and make my decision. As far as credit for retouching I absolutely have no problem. Just like I would have no issue for the MUA getting credit.

Letting her select the images that make the final cut would also depend. I would want to see her portfolio to see if her taste are in line with mine.

Personally I think it is smart for a model to try to protect his/her image. It is what they are marketing. If they are good at what they do then it really should not matter. If the model or retoucher has a poor portfolio I would either decline the offer and state my reason or offer to do the shoot at a standard rate and request my name not be used.

I don't do people photos, but just from a standard, interpersonal position this sounds like a path to unnecessary drama; I'd walk. To expand on another poster's comment; she mentions protecting HER brand and then shows a *complete* disregard for that from your end by insisting that someone else edit YOUR photos; thereby endangering YOUR brand protection.

I'd, personally, find a polite way of telling someone like that to sod off.

EDIT: To be fair, I think the other, two stipulations are fine. Just that second one, and the fact that a) her ex is her brand manager, b) she feels it's pertinent to tell you that her BM is he ex just indicates 'damage' that isn't worth dealing with for free.

Sometimes the right move is just to walk away. This sounds like one of them.

I agree.

So where did everyone get the impression that her ex is her brand manager? I thought it was her boyfriend's dad.

Regardless Kristen, you need to protect your brand just as much as she needs to protect hers. I also have respect for JimConnerPhoto's opinion above.
