Hey, all!

I've had a lot of little birds show up where I'm now living, they "hang out" in a couple apple trees in the yard next door, and too often are "light-shallenged"...

So, I decided to "Push" my gear! I have the Canon 100-400 lens, which is "too short" for these shots, so I grabbed the Kenko 2x TC out of a box where it had been collecting dust, because the "softness" has always been something I never wanted to use with the 100-400. I put the kit on my trusty ol' 30D -- I had an initial hope that the camera would AF with that setup, since I can shoot the TC with my 24-105, but no dice.

For the light, I hooked a Better Beamer flash extender onto my trusty ol' 580EX (I), and set up far enough away to not scare all the critters off!

So, feel free to check out my post in the "Show us your setup and the final result(s)!" Thread:

You can see a couple more pics of the birds on my PBase page, but the "setup" shots may interest you (not on the PBase page. Here's the PBase page:

you did well with the 2x on it.
I have mixed feelings on a TC on my 100-400.
I have kind of found that it does about the same quality shot as cropping.
but adding a TC slows my AF and lowers the light available

Yeah, you lose 2 stops of light and "usable" aperture...for the body I'm using I lose AF!
