First time out to shoot birds. Shot quite a few images of this bird.

Looks like a Red Shouldered Hawk, a hawk which i just found a nest of within 500 feet of my backyard!

Thank you very much for the reply. I was driving home from some errands. I saw this guy up on the wire. I did not have my camera with me, so I drove home ~2 mile, grabbed the camera and went back. He was still perched up on the same location. I would guess that ~15 minutes passed before I made it back. Never shot birds before although this is something I've been looking forward to. I am glad I had the chance to capture this one and look forward to more opportunities. I shot it with a 7D and the 70-200 2.8L IS with a 1.4 extender. It was exciting indeed. Good luck with the hawk in your neck of the woods.
