Hi guys, I went to New Zealand last year but only had limited time in each place, it was getting dark, and the rain had started to roll over the mountains. This was about as i good get with the time restraints, Does it work? Haven't expiremented much with slower shutter and filters.

Nice shot, dramatic colors, but you need to fix the horizon.

If nature doesn't give you the conditions you are dreaming about, make the best photograph you can under the circumstances. In this instance, you produced a winner.

Agree with the CCW rotation, but the broody sky and ethereal glow is a winner.

Love the texture and color of the water in this one. Agree with fixing the horizon.

It's a wonderful scene and overall nice image, but one thing strikes me as not-quite-right: The image appears like a composite of two separate images with the "seam" being the horizon line. Since the water is the brightest part of the image, it makes it appear to be self-illuminated, which is unnatural. If the sky - if at least the brightest areas in the sky - were at least as bright as the brightest areas of the water my brain would perceive the image as natural. Hope you don't mind the suggestion. :)

Hi David, Thanks for your comments. Thats what this forum is all about- Getting peoples opinions!
This picture is straight from the camera, no post processing other then a crop and rotate, This lake is in New Zealand and It is naturally very blue in colour (something from the minerals from glaziers, or volcanoes way back when, i think it was) Your welcome to have a crack at putting your spin on it.. Thanks again

Ha, I thought that might be the case; that it was exactly what your camera actually saw. :) Anyway, here's what I had in mind. Just a simple levels adjustment for everything above the water line. The light values are pulled up but the darkest values are maintained same by pushing the mid-point downward slightly. I'm not claiming this is the "right" approach, it's just what I would do.

By the way, I didn't intend to adjust the saturation any - it's not the focus of my comment - but my levels adjustment did unfortunately increase the saturation. I should have avoided that by using a "luminosity" blending on the levels adjustment layer instead of "normal". :)
