You see, now have you actually shot with a 1D MkIII or 1Ds MkIII?

P.S. Sega, you can get the 6D without GPS or WiFi.
Seriously, it's real. So trade in your GPS enabled 6D for the one without and go take some pictures.

You just have to get it from Indonesia.

What are the chances of getting 6D closer to 3 digit price in a year. If I make decent progress in photography and post processing skills, upgrading to 6D is the best move from 600D. Everything else is like moving sideways unless Canon introduces next generation crop sensor.

That's way down the road. The MkI is there now and it took years. The MkII still has a couple hundred to go and might make the end of year but the 6D, 3~4 years unless Canon comes up with an absolutely killer FF camera that pretty much obsoletes the 6D and MkIII and given Canon's reputation for being an innovator, I figure that's about as likely to happen as Yellowstone erupting and whipping out all life on earth.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.

And there lies the reason why everyone has a different viewpoint on this issue. What I shoot using AF, the 6d will not cut it. Tried it out and it did not perform any different than my 5d2. So what is proper AF for your type of photography is not so good for mine. Bottom line here, the 6d basically has the same AF as the 5d2 which had basically the same AF as the 5d.

Well, you just about have me convinced that I should have bought a used/new 5D2. It appears to be substantially positioned above the 6D and with very minor issues...?

Sure, BUT other cie did that without a problem.

My main point is

Why not give people what they need, without taking all their money.
Maybe a $150 more would have been a great thing.
Like I said, GPS, is not really my cup of tea, BUT fast autofocus I could use a lot more often.

I'm not trashing, I'm more in a wonder mode, why.........
In a near future, i'm sure they will regret that decision....

What you want and what others want are all different. Canon gave the general community exactly what was requested for years, a sub $2000 FF body, and in fact it comes with some nice extras that many people will use.

Hmmm...did we not already have a $2,000 full frame called a 5d2. Canon added a few whistles to it, put it into a compact body and called it a 6d.

It listed at $2700 at launch... and everyone complained for years that they wanted a cheaper FF body. Canon complied. The 6D was $2100, I believe, but quickly fell down to a more accommodating street price just a couple of months after launch.

Since I can get a 5D2 for less than a 6D...and there are no issues with the 5D2...why not get it?

^Because it's in all ways that count a lesser camera than the 6D, especially in low light IQ.

I find it ridiculous that people are still whining about this... my 6D has zero issues with autofocusing, just because X camera comes with X feature doesn't mean all cameras should. It's like watching children fight over who's bag of skittles came with the most blue's...

Yeh, it was listed at $2700 4 years ago. When the 6D was launched, you could get the 5D2 for under $2,000.
