Yep, you are right, that is something you NEED when taking pics,

I own the 5dmkII and only the center is great, so I got a lot of manipulation to do to take a pic, maybe I'll wait for the 7D II or maybe a D600.....
I'll see

NEED? Really? I have a 7D, has many focus points. I mostly shoot sports, never use anything besides center focus point, or *sometimes* when positioned vertically the one to the right.

That said, photographers got by for a very very long time without anything but center. So you can argue the various pros and cons of other focus points, but you don't NEED anything besides the center point.

You can also spend 14+ hours on an internet messaging board arguing the minute points of focusing systems and build quality, or you know....get out and shoot ;)

My hat's off to Canon. My 6D has DR that is quantum improvement over 5D, high ISO capability is fantastic, and the clincher-the images themselves-are staggeringly WOW. Sensor cleaning. Live View ensures perfect focus for stills, this body's true forte. All this at around half the MSRP of the 5D when new.
If anyone needs a sports camera or a VF full of focus points, don't get the 6D. Not hard to figure this out, is it? But for me, it's a prayer answered; it's the true spritual successor to the 5D, moreso than the actual 5DII and III.

Yeah, I already shoot, and I damn my 5dmkII for the lack of autofocus points , cross type I mean.
Often it does'nt see what I shoot, IMAGINE when a subject is moving.

I'm not talking jive here, just plain autofocus.....

I'm more concerned about quality of focus points over quantity. The 6D seems to have good points, particularly the center one.

Until Canon brings back Eye Controlled Focus I'm mostly a center point user anyway. My EOS 3 thoroughly ruined me on how nice multipoint systems can be :(

Sure my 1DII or 5D3 have better focusing systems, but they're worse to use.

It's normal, the 5d is been out like 10 years ago ;)

Glad you like it, i'm sure it's a great camera, I've seen what it can do.....
Now I try to get them to had more cross type focus point for the same price!
GPS is really not necessary!

I've shot basketball with my 5dm2 and center AF. So that's pretty much under the worst conditions imaginable. Cave like lighting, min 1/500 shutter and I've gotten plenty of keepers. Not ideal, but manageable with proper technique.

C'mon, hockey rink is worst ;)

Really you got great shots?
I wonder if its the same when the subject is coming at you

I shot my friend doing just that, walking near me, got 40% of good shots!
I don't remember if I was on servo mode....

Yeah, the best part about the 5d mk III vs the mk II is the autofocus points. I would have loved to see the 6d have more.

For all the complaints about 5DC and 6D AF, I've never had a problem; understanding the limitations that exist is the key to tranquility. I have a 1DIII so fast and precise AF isn't alien to me, but still the poor AF on 5 and 6 series bodies has been greatly exaggerated IMO.

Seriously guys, I don't get what all fuzz is all about!!!

Just deal with the limitation of your gear - and the gear was never as good as it is today!

My old F5 has 5 AF points for gods sake - and it used to be the best sports camera around just about 15 years ago.

You think AF will ruin your shot? Well then focus manually - at least you won't have to blame anyone but your self.

It will take me years, before I outgrow 5DII - criticize your work, not the gear.

NO sir, Got the 5dmkII and I'd trade any autofocus, even the 60D is way better!

C'mon, try to shoot anything that move on manual mode, good luck!

I guess it depends on what you shoot. 90% of my subjects aren't moving. Live View and a tripod make focus issues on such stationary shots disappear, and opens up a whole 'nother world of alternative lens opportunities for those like me who are nearsighted.
Yeah, I love my 6D, haha.

There was a time when photographers used manual focus for sports and wildlife.
It actually took skill and years of experience to get it right - not just extra 1000 dollars.

Yes, coming at me: Not great, color is off and would want to do more NR, but focused on the girl's eyes. Also unless you are talking college, HS and other gyms are way darker. For hockey I can use my 70-200.
