Comments and critiques are encouraged and appreciated.

All the shadows are done with the lights. For the police spotlight, I made a gobo out of a big piece of cardboard. It was originally going to be a Bat-Signal, but the bat shadow didn't look good when laid over the subject and the corrugated garage door.

1. On this one, we wanted to put our own spin on the Adam Hughes artwork. Shot in front of white paper, with the green/blue tint and the numbers added in post.

8. Inspired by the artwork for the "Batman: Arkham City" video game.

Very cool concept. The last one's killer. Were the chains real, or did you add those digitally?

"Everything will be alright. I'm from the government and I'm here to help."
Gear: EOS 5DMKII; EOS 400D (infrared converted); Canon 24-105mm f/4 L; Sigma 17-35mm f/2.8-4 EX; Canon 70-200mm f/4 L; Canon 135mm f/2.0 L; Pentax SMC Takumar 50mm f/1.4 with EOS adaptor, Rokinon 14mm f/2.8; only enough knowledge to be a clear and present danger to society.

Bloody good job if they are digital. I'd say they are real chains, just made out of plastic.

The chains are plastic. I got approval for this shot in advance, and my lovely assistant/wife chained her up. She was quite patient with us, and we got a couple of amusing out-takes.

We were trying to emulate the Arkham City video game artwork. The tones aren't quite right, the latex didn't work perfectly for it - if I lift the blacks any more it just starts to look weird. It's not quite as close as I wanted to get, but we're still pleased with it.

It's not mine. The picture she's holding is a cover art by Adam Hughes. We didn't want to emulate it completely, we wanted to put our own spin on it. Here's the original art, credit to Adam Hughes:

*note - we tried for a good ten minutes to get the lights to match the artwork, and gave up. In the art, the shadows on the wall seem to indicate two very close light sources at about face height; but doing that was VERY unflattering on the model's face. So I just tried to make the face look good, and let the shadows on the wall fall where they may.

Here's the rest of that part of the set:
