Am I crazy to do this? I have a great copy of the Sigma 85 1.4 and a an amazing 135L for studio/portrait shoots. But lately, I've been doing a lot more commercial and beauty work where changing lenses can be a pain even when I'm at the studio.

Has anyone traded their combo for a 70-200LII and later on regretted it?

I went the other direction and am very happy with that choice. But, if you think a zoom would be more efficient for your work, then that's a pretty big reason to drop the primes.

why not try shooting your existing primes at 2.8 and above for just a day. See if you are happy with the results

I'm very happy with the results, just changing the lens back and forth can be bothersome for me. The 70-200LII eliminates it, I think, since it has received great reviews since Day 1.

My original intention was to have a lens I can use for work and pleasure or when traveling with my family. 135L and Sigma 85 1.4 wonderfully does those tasks. But, that was then, now is different since I've been doing tons of commercial, test shoots etc lately.

I don't even know why I create this thread, it seems like I just need that extra push since I know 70-200 will do everything for me with the exception of going below F/2.8 and carrying it when I'm traveling with the family.

Funny, because that's the exact reason I went the other direction. My "professional" work went from 90% of my shooting to 10% of what I do. Now that it's mostly family the primes are great. If it swings back around, the 70-200 will be back.

Yeah. I think I'm sold with the 70-200LII. I will probably miss that look you get from prime lens when heading outdoors, but I think I will be fine.
