Most decorated warship in US naval history. 16" guns could lob a 2500 lb shell from here to Trenton, which many seem to think might not be a bad idea. Berthed permanently just a few hundreds yards from her shipyard birthplace in Camden, NJ. 887 feet long, 108 foot beam, 29 foot draft, top speed 33 knots. Yeah big - 100 feet longer than the Titanic. This was taken from the parking garage, top floor, and I wanted to get that foreground in the frame, rather than a whole bunch of featureless sky. Puff the magic dragon had to be trimmed by the pilots due to the weight shift as the GE gatling guns were fired and the ammo lost the weight of the powder( not so much) and the projectiles( not just plain ole lead) Canon 60D,18-55mm,55-250mm,50mm compact macro, AF ext tubes. I was an idiot earlier in the day and was playing around with the WB adjustments and forgot to reset them to neutral, so every shot was down around 3000K - blue to the max..Of course, the LCD shots didn't show it, so I took 200 snaps with the wrong white balance. Thank goodness for raw, in this case. Wandering around a ship like this, even with it's gargantuan size, gives you a finer appreciation for those guys who spent months aboard - on the inner-ship tour I was constantly hunched over to keep my 6'0" frame from knocking on the bulkheads overhead, and turning sideways to creep along the passageways between objects. 5" 6" and 120 lbs was a perfect size and weight for a Navy guy back then... I'm not sure the US has ANY full-line dreadnought-sized battle wagons still on the rolls. They're just TOO expensive to run considering their utility these days. A carrier and a couple of guided missile cruisers and you've pretty much got things covered. 1 Tomahawk > 16-inch guns. Canon: 6D
