It was a big weekend for me, not only did I get to go to the Arboretum to try out the new 100L, my daughter decided to put on something pretty and let me shoot her, too. Please let me know your thoughts, where can I improve?

Keep her! Lovely daughter AND agrees to pose. [Actually, I do get that opportunity, too. My daughter loves to pose for headshots and then get them critiqued and processed here.]

The sun was not your friend this weekend. The harsh, direct sunlight is tough to work with. Somewhere with indirect lighting or waiting for the golden hour could have been helpful. [Yeah, you got to take them when the model is willing....]

It looks like she is facing into the sun in #2. That brings out the squinty eyes instead of the wider eyes you got in #3. #2 also seems to have a shadow over the eyes...a reflector could help fill in that shadow. Then, with the additional light from the reflector, select a smaller aperture (and/or higher shutter speed if no flash is used) to expose for the model instead of the background.

Thanks for sharing!

1D-III with stuff to stick on it:
70-200L, 28-70L, 24-105L, 300L, 50, 10-17 fish, 2.0x TC
Image editing OK, encouraged, and expected. Thank you for helping me learn!
