We had a very cold winter this year. After being spoiled the last few years with a "mild" winter, this year we had a stretch of a few weeks where temperatures were consistently below -20 deg C. The last few weeks, while below 0, were much more tolerable. Today it was +6 deg C, and spring is just around the corner. That said, it will still be a few weeks before the ice clears from the Northumberland Straight.
