a buddy of mine was in for a night so we briefly went aurora hunting, my battery was at 6% life and flickering...unfortunately forgot to charge it. If you have as wild an imagination as me I think it kinda looks like the aurora made a "wolf" like outline in the sky. I managed to snag two exposures (okay, well, 2 panoramas worth of exposures) before it went out.

Excellent Aurora, Karl!
I see a Black Bear's profile portrait, but that's just my own faulty interpretation!

I have been curious about something for a while. You're from "up north", so maybe you can answer my question:
Have you ever found it possible to photograph a silhouette image of a wildlife subject with the aurora in the background? Could be anything - sea gull, wolf, deer, caribou, ptarmigan, hare, fox . . .
You'd just need something that would stand still long enough for the exposure.

I see lots of great silhouettes of various wildlife subjects, and I see lots of great Aurora photos - just wondering if you've ever had both in the same image.

By the way, I'm talking about a single exposure, created in-camera - not some photoshopped creation.

Aside from myself (if I don't shave for a few days I start to look pretty wild) unfortunately not, but I'd like to. I have seen a few photos of it done but when I inquire into it I've found them all to be composites. But Would love to see that for sure, Tom!

Cool shot, Karl!
You know, a self-portrait of you, silhouetted, peering thru the viewfinder of a camera on a tripod, with the Aurora in the background, would be an awesome marketing tool for you! Although knowing you, you probably already have this.

My wife does not like this one. She thinks it's sort of "devilish" (the sort of devil's face you can see in the middle No idea if the devil is wild. Maybe "devilish wild?"
