Does anyone have any knowledge of how extensive and or intrusive to the camera the cleaning is ? Like is the exterior cleaned nice and black as well ?

Thanks in advance.

I just received my 7D back last week. Looks like the same one year old camera that I sent them....I would have to take their word they did something. I wasnt having any issues, however my 2012 CPS membership was about to expire and I had one cert left sooooo in went the 7D. My returned paperwork had this typed on it... "Your product has been examined and it was found that the part required lubrication has been inspected per your request. The unit was cleaned and checked. Adjusted exposure & focus & Shutter Speed. Cleaned C-mos and checked all to factory specs. Product functions were confirmed. "....my guess,.... form letter, lol.

It used to come at the bottom of the service paper when they return. Not anymore and even if you ask it they do not give. If you call them and ask they explain why they don't give it, they explain it to you and that makes perfect sense.

I'm a CPS Member so I get 2 cleanings a year for free.

I had a chuckle at CPS today when I got my 7D back from a shutter failure repair. I specifically asked if they could get the shutter count off the camera so I knew at what click the camera died (>100k), and their response on the paperwork was "New shutter. Count = 0". You don't say. :)

I've found that every time I asked for a shutter count, only one time did they not provide it, not sure why. I make sure to write the request on all forms I put in the box.

timberlandlh: That's EXACTLY what I see all the time when I get my cameras back from cleaning. The one line I see sometimes is "firmware was updated", except I know for a fact that the latest firmware is on both my bodies, and I've checked before and after sending.

Oh well.... :)

Well it seems as if you can qualify for CPS Gold, that would be the best value. But if you are just a silver member, here is the quote I received today for cleaning.

Clean and check is $209.00. Have you looked at the CPS gold memberships. For a $100 membership fee you get two clean and check vouchers and 30% off parts and labor and Canon pays for the return shipment back to you.

We are all still waiting for that good reason.
