Does this still have film in it?

Never used an instant film camera before but while hiking today I found this on the ground, appears to be some Fuji 100.

Does it still have film in it?

Can I use this as an excuse to get an instant camera?

(sorry for the crappy cellphone pics, all my DSLR batteries are dead)

The fact that there are white tabs sticking out indicates unused shots in the film pack.
According to Fuji,
ISO: 100
Film size : 85(W) x 108(H) mm (3-1/4 x 4-1/4" )or 102(W) x 131(H)mm (4x5 backs),
Picture size : 73(W) x 95(H) mm,
Number of prints : 10 per pack
Processing time at 68 degrees F: 120 sec.

The tab is used to pull a shot thru the rollers which spread the developing gel across the emulsion after exposure, to process the film.

I mistated...the white tab is pulled to allow the emulsion to be exposed to light when the shutter opens, then one grabs the print edge itself to pull it thought the rollers for processing. (Been too long since I used Polaroid materials, now off the market)

Been a while for me too but I think you had it right the first time. When you pull the film through the rollers to spread the developer it exposes the next sheet to the lens. The dark slide in the holder prevented accidental exposure. That is if you remembered to put it back in.

Maybe you meant the black tab, the one that you had to pull on a new pack to expose the first sheet.

If you're looking for an excuse to get an instant camera and still have more film, The Impossible Project makes new film for Polaroid cameras. I know they make film for SX-70s and 600 series (not sure on the exact models). The film is good, and they do have a few cameras for sale on the site. If you can't find a camera there, then eBay has some on it for about $100.

Been following the impossible project for a while, especially since Mijonju works for them now!

My local thrift store had one, but when I went today it was already sold.

I need to do research on them though, I'm not very versed on them(if at all)

After visiting local pawn shops, thrift stores and swap meets with no luck I ended up ordering a Polaroid 330 off ebay.

Along with that I ordered some new film packs, I'd like to practice with this used one first before the new packs.

I have a question on loading the pack do I need to remove that brown card that's in the front before loading it into the camera?

I haven't used a Polaroid for maybe 30 years, but as I recall the film package used to have loading instructions printed on it.

Fuji still makes medium format instant and you had the process description right the first time.

Here's a place that seems to have Polaroid Cameras all the time.

Thanks for the link! my local goodwills never have cameras and they charge absurd amounts for their other stuffs, glad the online place is not like that!

Picked this 330 off of ebay for $20, the battery compartment was trashed but I fixed it. Tested out good and the film pack actually ended up working!
