Weird question (I honestly didn't know in which forum to post it: mods feel free to move it where it belongs): how do you get rid of the curry smell in an umbrella? Shoot-through, 45" Photoflex that I used in a job in a Hindoo restaurant last Monday. I used it after that a couple of times last week, but it wasn't till a moment ago when I had to use it here at home that I noticed the pungent stench coming off it. Sprayed it with Febreeze (will it stain it and affect white balance?) but it didn't do anything. Can you wash these things, and how?

Any useful input is greatly appreciated.

TIA

Are you the only one smelling the curry? If so set the "brolly" out in the full sunlight to let old sol deodorize it.I do not have any reflector "brollys' so my answers are not qualified.

you can try bathroom steam for 20-30 minutes, and then dry it outside... or febreeze it some more

Don't do anything, just leave it in fresh air if you can for a day

Tell any client that happens to notice it that it's a special coating designed to reduce the appearance of pimples, wrinkles and saggy flesh.

Won't the sun 'bleach' the fabric? Well, it's already white, so probably dumb question, but I better ask anywise. I can just leave it in the balcony for a morn, hopefully it won't be blown away.

Sheesh, I just noticed the camera strap is 'perfumed' too. Wild.

Seems to me a hydrogen peroxide/water solution or a vinegar/water solution in a spray bottle and a few hours outside would suffice.

You could try sprinkling it with baking soda as well. Then you'll just have to worry about having a cloud of dust poof out of it every time you open it.
