So I have recently re-done my entire website. Due to the fact I am NOT technically savvy in the area of HTML I went with wordpress/prophoto. Pretty easy to use, not flash, very customizable and well...simple.

I'd like to think its pretty fine and I like how its set-up. BUT! I would like to have a private login for clients to view their ENTIRE gallery/send gallery to grandma and whoever else(which is easy). But also as they view their photos, I want them to be able to order prints through that.
I just want a basic order sheet that will get emailed to me so I know what to print.

I know a lot of people use Zenfolio, but I think you have to use their printers. I don't want that. Just a simple list emailed to me... and probably something where clients can use a paypal account for payment.

Can I do this all in my one site? Do y'all know of a plugin type thing I can just add? Or is it way more complex than I have thought?

Thanks so much!

-Alex

While the plugin route might work out for you depending on how much time you're willing to put into it, I went down a couple paths before I finally settled on Zenfolio:

1) Wordpress website with a simple "email me for prints" link below photos in a wordpress gallery that would open an email window (resulted in very few emails about ordering prints).

2) Wordpress password restricted galleries using the e-commerce or Zen Cart plugin/sites (difficult to set up as you have to add individual products, not feasible for large galleries, and required various amounts of custom coding to get right).

3) Switching to a theme that has native support for selling prints (Photocrati - unfortunately I bought in during a time where I needed the service and they had not yet fixed its issues).

4) Zenfolio as a side to my main site to manage the galleries and print requests (private galleries, polished print purchasing process, ability to self perform at the higher service levels).

Overall, I wish I didn't spend money and time on the first 1-3 options listed. If I just threw down the $100/year for Zenfolio Premium (looks like it's $120 now), I would have had a solid working solution for something that took me two wedding seasons to figure out. Depending on your business plan, consider investing an a system like Pictures Pro ($329) as I've heard good things and you limit the overall cost for a self sufficient service on your own server.

you might look at photocrati if you want to stay with a wordpress theme. It has an ecommerce section and is very easy to set up.
