While photographing the November rut, I found this group of rams. It started to snow, lightly at first, then heavily. This was captured as soon as the snow began to fall. Whiteout conditions ensued, and for a spell images such as this became impossible.

Canon 5D classic
400mm f2.8
1.4 tele-extender
f8
ISO 800
1/200th of a second

Because all 3 rams were the same distance from the camera at this moment, I was able to get all of their heads in relatively sharp focus at f8. I took a lot of frames right before and right after this one, but had to delete them because this is the only one in which all 3 heads were sharp.

Very nice trio there Tom. I don't think you could have posed these guys any better than they did on there own. What part of the world did you find these guys? Nice job in some tough conditions.:)

A great shot and a scene most of us may never witness in person. I like those kind of days you described although tough on the photographer and gear. Appreciate you enclosing the camera settings on the shot.

Thanks for the kind comments - they are appreciated.
For those interested, these sheep were between Thompson Falls and Plains, in western Montana.

Awesome capture, Tom. KUDOS bestowed.

Have plenty of Canons, enough ammo, enough to blow 'em to "L". Now, I just have to learn to aim.

That's where I was thinking Tom. Great place to be during the rut for sure. Keep the pics coming.:)

Great picture! That area is great to see Bighorns. Especially in the winter, they come down onto the highway to lick the salt off the road.
