You should avoid taking images such as #4. It doesn't add anything to the story and the bride doesn't look the best.

The couple are good friends of mine, and it was a pretty accurate representation of how they are together, and they loved that picture. I was there to record events, especially ones as engrained in the typical wedding canon as smearing cake in each others faces. To miss that shot would have been a disservice.

You don't understand... You need to find better ways to capture the moments. That's the difference between a candid photo and a snapshot.

As I mentioned to the other person on this board who posted a "drinking shot" that the said image could've been made better if instead of drinking that person was photographed toasting.
Same here. This shot could've made better if it was taken at a different time. Bride is beautiful, however, in that shot she doesn't look very good. Females are extremely self-conscious and don't like photographs where they look weird.
I am not sure her with that face and him wiping her is a good representation of them together....
Just my .00002 cents after photographing hundreds of weddings.... You are welcome to ignore it.

I think they're fine - not amazing but not bad either. I don't have an issue with the squishy face the bride is making, I think it's one of those funny but not horribly unflattering type shots. Trust me, I'm picky about that kind of stuff. Overall WB feels too cool for my tastes.

I am super cool n' stuff.

I really love all of these. Even though the 4th picture isn't incredibly flattering, it is indicative of the couple's personality and I love those pictures. Beautiful composition on all of these. :)

1-not much to critique here. I like where the points of interest are placed.

2-I like photos that are 'framed' by foreground elements, but the white on the left isn't enough to seem intentional--It just seems like something that should be cropped out. Good foreground (dancer) to background (flash:ambient) ratio.

3-standard cake shot

4-It seems unfair to judge your sequence of shots by this one shot. I agree with dmitrim that there were probably better shots to be had there (and which you may have). But part of your job as a photog. is getting a sense of who your clients are. They probably laugh at and enjoy this shot rather than being concerned that she, the bride, isn't 'looking her best'.

5-a crop like this really should include the feet.

6-I find the foreground elements a little too bright to make this 'cutout' work. It's a shot I would have looked for as well. I might have pushed the vignette up a bit.

7-this strikes me as tilting to the left judging by horizontal of window frame. I like the exposure choice; but I find the color balance a smidgen magenta.

I disagree wholeheartedly. They may not hang that one on their wall, but it belongs in a book to be cherished by the bride & groom, and their posterity.

#7 with the preacher - You did a really good job of dealing with some difficult lighting.

Overall, I would be proud of these shots if they were mine.

Thank you all, I will definitely take everything you all have said into account for my next shoot!

curtis, that is exactly what I was going for. It was only one of over 200 images I delivered to them, and as soon as we got to that image in the review, they both laughed and she said "aw, I'm doing my 'scrunchy face!' that's awesome."

My #4 comment. Nothing really good about it or nothing bad. It's an ok image.

I'm sure you capture the prior moments. I guess you and maybe the couple connect with the image.

It' all about the moment and the connection.

When my couples pick the photo cover for their wedding album, I sometime shake my head.

Did you light the ceremony as well? or was that natural light?

I lit it with two hot shoe flashes, one on each side of the aisle, next to the columns and aimed at the canopy as a kind of light modifier.
