Should I buy the 6D or something else in that range?

I've been shooting weddings with a pair of 7D bodies and want to add a FF to my lineup.
I came on here expecting the 5dII to be at Christmas prices or even lower, but this is no longer the case. I ended up doing some further research and found out I can get a brand new 6d for 1750 locally, should I jump on that instead? Ideally I'd want the 5dIII but I made lens upgrades with that part of the budget. What body would you get with ~$1700, is there a better option at that price point?

I love the 7D as a tool and I can work them to the limit, but they always leave me desiring better IQ.

Lenses are: 70-200 2.8, 50 1.2, 17-40 4, 24-70 2.8.

Thank you.

I'm currently debating whether to buy a 6D or not, with the rumoured release of the 7D MK Ii, I'm really wondering whether I should wait. CanonRumors posted a spec list for the 7D II that really has me considering the wait.

There is always the 5DMkII used. Used prices are pretty good right now, well below your $1700 limit. Otherwise I can't see how you would go wrong with the 6D.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.

Easy decision. Do you want FF or crop sensor?

x2.

If the 7DII has the specs it is supposed to (high resolution APS-C, fast FPS, Lots of AF points) it becomes more of what it is now. Personally I'd wait until ALOT of sample images have been produced with it to see if the IQ is there before getting one.

The 6D is a fairly known item (at least it actually exists) that doesn't really focus on ANY of the features that the 7DII has upgraded.

So, they are even more "two different tools" than the 6D/7D would be.

Figure out what you shoot and which of the two is going to do it better. Neither of them is a "jack of all trades" so your choice should be relatively straightforward.

I'd look for the 6d if it were me. With your budget, it is right there. If your budget were a few hundred less then I would get a 5d2. My .02

With all but one of your lenses being FF the 6D would be a real winner for you.

I want a FF so I can essentially double my lenses. I will still keep one 7D as I always shoot with two cameras. I want to shoot both.

Just one additional question, which one of my lenses is not FF compatible? I bought them all with a future FF camera in mind. They are all EF, L lenses. I can't wait an indefinite amount of time for the next greatest thing, I have weddings to shoot, I'm going to head to the store soon :)

I'd go with 6D over 5DII, especially for weddings. Better low light AF and noticeably better high ISO performance are far more important than a joystick, an extra 1/20s flash sync speed and the 1/8000 shutter speed.

Thanks everyone, I decided to go with the 6d and ran in to a steal. After everything I ended up paying $1600(Canada) taxes in and it actually went straight to a photoshoot a few hours later. I'm very happy and would definitely recommend it. On first use I find that the lack of noise at high ISO shockingly impressive.

Also, I find the directional pad a viable substitute for the joystick when it comes to AF point selection.

Thanks again.
