Travel Size Tripod

In the next few months I'll be doing some work related travel. While I love my manfrotto tripod it's just too big for a carry on size luggage.

Can anyone recommend a Tripod that would break down to a smaller size?

Since I'll be working during the day, I'll be using it most for long exposure night shooting.

looking for something that would be less than 18inch folded down. was hoping for 150 or less.
Just found a link though the search about a benro travel angel 2, not sure of the price. If I have to spend more than 150 I'm thinking of just packing my huge suitcase and taking the manfrotto

Like all tripods, you get what you pay for. I have a Sirui t2204X with their K20X ballhead, which is about 41cm long (about 16 inches) and weighs about 1.5 kg all up. The combination cost me about $400. There are a number of similar products from Feisol, Benro, Induro in a similar price range.

IMO, if you aren't willing to spend more than $150, you may as well take your existing setup, as you will most probably compromise expected performance in buying a travel tripod in that range.

It comes in two different versions (fixed center column and normal center column), but it meets your travel pod requirements and is getting some decent reviews.

MeFoto is a good option. Sturdy and won't break the bank. I like it a lot and fits in my travel bag easily.

Mefoto is actually made by Benro. I think the larger Mefoto A1350Q1B is about as small as you should go with a DSLR with any kind of a longer lens. The smaller A0350Q0T has a slightly smaller leg tube diameter which makes it less stable, and I don't like the fixed center column.

I found the MeFoto 1350 to be a little too flimsy to my liking with my gripped 5D3 and just my 8-15 lens when testing in the store.

I ended up going with the MeFoto 2340 and it's sturdy enough for my Bigma.

Although the 2340 will be more than the OP's would like to only spend, IMO is worth the price difference and I'd highly recommend as a travel sized tripod that doesn't brake the bank. There are several off brand for even less that are probably just as good for same size/spec.

Mine is the older C013, but they have new versions quite similar.

Super light weight at just breaking 2 lbs, but seems about as sturdy as my old heavy 4.5 pound aluminum Manfrotto 3001pro, but just a fraction of an inch shorter not using center column. (46.4" vs 46.9")

I like it because it weighs nothing! It came with me to Peru and the Galapagos. (though I used the Monopd more often in Galapagos, as the Induro was NOT going to carry my 500mm f/4L IS

It's around 20" but the next model down is 18"

If you are looking at the Sirui T005/T025, I would suggest that you consider the newer X version of these tripods. The X version allows you to remove the fixed center column. Without that column, these tripods should be sturdier than they are.

I've recommended the Promaster XC series on here a few times. It was recommended to me by Gewb and I couldn't be happier with it.

Different sizes depending on your need, converts to monopod, price is right, good quality.

Sorry, for got the promaster url. They have 3 sizes, and then their carbon fiber counterparts (which are obviously more pricey) (XC522, XC525, XC528)

You can find them on amazon from $139 for the smallest model (xc522)

I studied this hard last year and ended up buying a Benro Travel Angel. It is carbon fiber and folds to 17". Cost approx $425 or so. It is a Chinese product but I've hat it all over Africa and its performed very well. The ball head that comes with It is good for ~22lbs or so. It also comes with a carrying case which is nice.

+1 to the Siriuu T005, took this to Europe on a 2.5 month backpacking trip and it worked wonders.
