As an avid camper, I've been craving to get out in the woods again. I finally got to quench my craving last weekend while camping in the Uwharrie National Forest. It was a good weekend because I was finally able to test a lot of my new "field" gear. Most importantly, the bugs are beginning to come out!

I've never seen so many native centipedes in one area.

Absolutely amazing set, Insecto. Love that centipede & the last shot is clearly a nice ending to a good week-end.

Thanks guys! While I had a lot of fun, my time was still pretty limited (only had a few hours each day to photograph). In a few weeks, I'll be camping on the coast where I'll have plenty of time to photograph the critters there. :)

Amazing falls short to describe how I see the image.
I love the way you brought out so much detail even on moving targets.

Thanks again everybody. :)

Samsen: You wouldn't believe how hard it was to get a decent shot of the centipede and mite. Both never stopped running. To make things worse, the centipede was very fast, and for the mite, I had a full set of extension tubes on.
