T4i arrived

I couldn't wait for UPS to deliver. I went to the local UPS warehouse & got it off the truck.

Now what do I do while the battery charges?
Registered the camera - now looking for a photo hosting site, so I can share pics here. My kids are saying Flickr.
Oh, change my info. on POTN.

What's the first thing to do when it is ready to shoot?

Do a dust finding shoot 1st? Or just start shooting?

Not even sure what shoot yet. Clear sunny day up here in Alaska, a little cold 24 degrees at the moment.

Almost picked one up today.. but my local camera shop was almost $200 more then what amazon is selling them for..

Go out and shoot..Flickr seems to be the spot.

Battery is charged. Card inserted and formatted. Date & time set.

My favorite lens that I have: 17-85 is not focusing properly. It hunts forever and will not lock on anything. My other lens works fine with both cameras. Might have to ship this one out to Canon.

Played with the touch screen and took a couple pics. Kids aren't interested in me taking their photos. Here after awhile I'll go out and drive around and take some pics. Clear - sunny - little breezy & 27 degrees. The local volcano is not steaming today, though.

I've had the T4i a couple months and love it, the touchscreen is addictive for fast setting changes. I'm jealous of your weather, we still have snow here.

I don't have a photo hosting site yet. I'll try and get that done today.

I have to get use to all these focus points. Sometimes what I want is not in focus - I'll have to adjust my focus point, usually it will be the middle dot.

Found out my RC-1 Remote works with it. Should be clear tonight - tripod ready. Maybe I can get some night shots.

As far as hosting sites go, Flickr seems to be the most popular here on POTN. However, their free storage is quite limited. Last time I checked I think it was something like 200 image limit? I use PhotoBucket. http://beta.photobucke​t.com/ Free and I haven't seen any limit on storage - yet. Great photo quality.

I'd love to see some photos of the Alaskan countryside! Go shoot already!

I just bought one of these kits for my fiancée's birthday. I was originally thinking about a refurbed T3i kit, but for what these are going for these days ($650 on Amazon) it was hard to say no to the newer camera, especially with all its new bells and whistles.

It's supposed to arrive tomorrow, and I'm gonna have a hard time not playing with before I give it to her! She's been hinting that she wants her own DSLR for a while, especially since I have a 5DII. She's really only ever used film SLRs and that was a while ago, but she's pretty familiar with Canon, so she should pick it up quickly, I think....
