It's been hard... I only had two primes and mostly used the sigma 30mm.
I took 198 shots and kept only 16... I need to practice but I loved it. :)

It seems most everything is in focus. The DOF is much too deep.

There will be days when you get the shot(s) you missed days, months or years before.

Not bad on your first attempt, I've only done it once myself and I know it's hard to shoot basketball indoors! That's an interesting arena. Will make for some cool shots. I'd agree that you should shoot with a wider aperture and seperate the player you are focusing on more and I'm also wondering if your white balance is good on these. They seem a little yellow to me.

Your timing is good and that's a good place to start. They're all pretty wide shots and I would say try and get tighter in your framing. The last one has no face, his arm is in the way. Otherwise I think you have a solid first outing to build on

They look good to me for a first time shooting. Longer glass will go a long way to helping you to like you pointed out. The white balance looks a little hinky to me too...
