From Bosque del Apache NWR, New Mexico. Late November 2012. Out about 1700 frames, I got a few that I like :) This is truly a magical place...

Really great captures! I saw and photographed my first sandhill the other day, nothing comparable to your photos though!

Thanks! I spent 2 days and 1700 photos to get just a handful of nice ones. I got rid of all but about 100 pictures and I could get rid of 50 more :) Most of them were poorly exposed and blurry pre-dawn and post-sunset...

Your images are great, nice capture. I personally am not a fan of sandhill cranes after they impacted several of our T37 trainer planes in W TX and killed several of our student and instructor pilots as a result.Planes/engines and sandhill cranes are NOT a good match, Cameras and SH cranes do not have such deadly results.
