Posted up some of my shots from yesterday. I parked myself at turn 14 for most of the session - which is one of the few spots you can get some elbow room to shoot through the fence.

In complete contrast to today's lousy conditions, it was extremely bright & sunny yesterday. Gotta get me some drop in filters for the 400 to be able to shoot with low shutter speeds.

Awesome shots, not a fan at all of the slanted look. Just my 2 cents, I would try straightening them out, and bump the contrast a tad. Did you use the 400 for all the shots?

Had the 70-200 with TC earlier in the day but the 400 for most of the day. Really need the combination of reach and wide open to lose the fence. Yeah looking at my laptop screen need a touch more contrast.

Funny you should say about the slanted look. I've had other motorsport people comment to me that the straight look is boring and to turn them around.

I like the 3rd last one with the blur. done in post I assume?

I too find the tilt a bit much, maybe one or two would have been enough rather than all of them, and maybe a bit less tilt.....but that's just me, still nice images

Maybe I'm on my own here, but I still like looking at racing car photos and not getting a sore neck ;) The way it's going with the tilt, photos will be upside down at 30* tilt in a few years.......'cause upright is boring and so 20th century!

I like it used sparingly but in every shot it gets to be way too much and sorry but just a little bit boring.

Nice sharp pic's,that low angle works well imo.
Were these all shot through the fence?

Is a pass required to shot where you did?

400ml 2.8 MMmmm :)

All through the fence at Turn 14. No pass required no. The photographers hole were right in front of me. How I wish I could have been two metres closer in with them :)

Not a bad set Neil.
I'm swimming against the tide and don't mind the dutch tilt, although I prefer the "uphill" shots to the downhill"
I'd lose the one with the fake blur - it just doesn't work, and looks, well - fake.

Really nice set of images. Nothing like a little tire flex in the corners to get your blood going.

I don't have an ND for the 400 but will definitely look to get one now I understand the need for it in this scenario. Most of these shots were in the 1/800 to 1/2500 range given the need to shoot wide open to lose the fence effectively. I did manage to get a few as low as 1/320th when the cloud cover came over every now and again.

General consenus is go easy on the tilt (: Lesson learned for next time.

I'm also not liking the angles or the fake blur. Normally I don't mind a bit of an angle every now and then, but it needs to be done selectively and with each images composition in mind. Sometimes it suits an image to have a bit of angle dialled in, but here it just looks like you have been told to tilt your shots and twisted them all because you think you should, rather than because it improves the composition of that shot.

As others have said, the angle is too severe (imho) and gets tiresome very quickly when every image is angled. An occasional angled shot, where it adds to the composition, is great and adds variety to a set.
