Sorry Ian I missed this post. These are what we call repeaters, it boost up signals to get to the far end. They are part of an antiquated PCM system for rural areas. The "bolts" you see are actually fuses to protect them from lightning. You see them on the highway every few kilometres. I'm sure Pinas has this as well. Unfortunately hunters likes to shoot at them. Here's what it looks like.

Done some edits. I present to you the World Famous UNESCO Heritage Site, Paoay Church from Paoay, Ilocos Norte. I had hard time getting the right exposure because the facade was the only thing lit up by the huge halogen lamps up front while it was really dark at the back and I wanted to have the background well exposed but failed.
