While visiting my son he told me about this groundhog that had been coming out to warm in the sun. After a couple of long shots he went back into his den. I approached to about 20 meters and sat down to wait him out. Here is a couple of the shot that I got. He had been going to the top of the dirt mound, but this time he only went up part of the way to munch on some twigs and then went back to the den.

Very nice, looks to be less than ideal light conditions and can take a lot of patience to wait them out.

Haven't seen many shots of them on here. We call them woodchucks. Your patience paid off!

The photos were taken at about 2PM. Your right, the light wasn't great, but I only had a couple of hours to try and get some photos. The sun was high on a cloudless day, but I had to shoot while I had the chance. If he had of went to the top of the mound like he had been, the limbs would not have been in the way of the shots. Below is a photo taken from about 50 or 60 yards away with him on top of the mound.
Thank you to all that replyed I hope you enjoyed.
