Mar 20, 2013 21:28 | #63 Exactly, and with me having a perfectly running version of CS 4 to borrow those settings from you'd think I could just copy them & be all set. Unless someone knows the solution I'll just keep trying every possible variable one at a time hoping I find it. At least for now I have a work around. I'm still thinking it's your video card (but by now everyone that has contributed is totally baffled so it's now become time to make wagers Bob

Mar 21, 2013 08:03 | #65 The Video card isn't that old & I'm pretty sure the drivers are up to date because I get automated updates & remember doing one recently. I'll do the Preferences thing tonight & see how that goes. Re setting the monitor brightness, colours & contrast etc I think that was done in the control panel for the video card but I'll re check that too along with the setting for Wide Gamut. Mar 21, 2013 18:40 | #66 SOLVED THANKS TO YOU PEOPLE. Video card driver is up to date Deleting the PREFERENCES file cured it. Don't know what was wrong with it considering I hadn't made any changes until I knew I had a problem & those I made were reversed if they didn't show an improvement. The new defaults seem to be working correctly both when opening an existing jpg or a CR2 & then sending it straight to the PS work area. Mar 21, 2013 21:13 | #68 That figure is LOW based on the reports here but you know how then news likes to blow things out of proportion. Just happy to know you're safe. One of my customers / friends works at Fort Mac & just returned Tuesday (he gets a trip home every 3 weeks or so in return for long shifts at normal pay rates) so maybe he's getting a day or 2 of rest. Hopefully winter will soon be over but then we get the mosquitos & in many areas the black flies BUT that's when I get busy both job wise & hobby wise shooting the local R/C events. Mar 22, 2013 20:19 | #70 Thought I'd best post an update. Although things are better especially in CS 6 now I've got a blueish tint outside of PS. I need to experiment a bit more before posting my thoughts & conclusions but based on the 2 13 X 19 prints I've run off I know that IF I print straight from PS with my current settings I'm VERY close to what I'm seeing on screen except for brightness. I'll have to go into the video card control to cure that because a screen setting (brightness) of ZERO is still brighter than my print. Mar 24, 2013 12:48 | #71 Well it looks like I've got this under control now with one exception, and since I don't need the program I'm not wasting any more time with it. CS 6 & Picasa now show images pretty much identically & better yet I can print form both with EXCELLENT results. I had to turn Color Management ON in Picasa (it had to be OFF before) but Off or On doesn't help Faststone. I removed the old version & downloaded the current version & still get very oversaturated (looking) images in it. I just printed a slightly cropped version of this image at 8 X 10 and let dry long enough to handle without worries & it looks great in natural light & under fluorescent too so again Image hosted by forum (642058) © cicopo [SHARE LINK] THIS IS A LOW QUALITY PREVIEW.
