All images were shot with my new Sigma 35mm f/1.4 and believe it or not, they were all shot wide open! I can't get over how sharp this lens is. I have a feeling this lens will never be coming off of my camera in all seriousness.

My sister used to shoot a Yashica. Haven't even seen a picture of one in decades. Cool pic.

I had never seen one until my girlfriend brought it home over the weekend. Her mother gave it to her. She had everything including the manual, filters, flash and various lenses. We can't wait to develop the film!

Lovely series. It's a shame that retro cameras are now so 'cool' because prices are on the rise... Last year I went to a camera fair run by a group called Cameraholics, and I couldn't get over the number of young people buying up old film cameras! Gotta be good for photography in general :>;)

Yup. They've come a long way! My girlfriend says she wants a darkroom now. Haha. I'm really looking forward to shooting some B+W photos with the 50mm f/1.7 and some high ASA film for that gritty look/feel. Any suggestions on film types?

Thanks! And yeah, it's awesome that we both love photography. Once in a while we rent lenses together and when I'm really fortunate, she even pays for half the cost of new ones (granted its one we both want). It's also nice because we both have totally different taste in shooting style as well. I love sports and off camera flash whereas she loves natural light and abstract stuff.

Thanks! And yes, she really is. She definitely has an eye for composition, color, texture and all things abstract. You can see some of her images at:

Dude, you are going to make me go get a Sigma 35 1.4... These are great. I have been wanting a wide prime for a while now. I was thinking this, 35L, or 24L. The girl is a keeper too..

Don't waste your money on the 35L. It's a great lens. This sigma is just way, way sharper ;). And thanks. Yes, she's def a keeper! :)

Very nice series. I like it because it gives us some insight to her personality.
