That must be that "100D" that has been floating around lately. I hope its actual name isn't EOS-B....that's a little odd.

It's supposed to be smaller than the rebels but still take EF lenses, as far as I know.

What is "integrated optical image stabilization" with respect to a Canon DSLR? Normally one associates this with the lens.

I wonder if that means the Image stabilization is in the body then.

That is how I figure it to be.

sure is! the price seems to dictate a rebel, doesn't sound like a 60D/7D nor even M successor. The internal IS is really surprising.

almost makes it seem like a hoax.

It's really odd, I find the rebels too small.
If I wanted a small body I'd want mirror less not SLR.(I'm probably not their demographic though, 23 M amateur)

IIRC, Canon management never was fully on-board with the mirrorless trend. The EOS-M seemed like a rushed project to try to stem market share loss, but overall Canon always seemed to think the better idea was smaller DSLRs, so I'm guessing this is the first of that wave?

I've "tried" to get into 2 mirrorless systems - Micro 4/3 and Sony NEX. Neither stuck and I sold both. Ultimately I just did not want to invest funds into another system. A "high-end" compact like the RX100 seemed like a better portable solution and complement to my DSLR, so I'm saving for that instead.

Assuming the size reported in these rumors is correct, I'd be interested in this new "EOS-B" after it goes down in price a bit as I wouldn't have to invest in a new system, and I think it could work well with the smaller primes in Canon's lineup.

Interesting...the problem, of course, remains the same as with the EOS-M using EF lenses (at least for me)...and that is this:

Sure the body is small, but by the time you slap the big lenses on it, there isn't really much of a point. If I'm going to have a small body, I want small lenses to go with it to make for a TRULY small package (hence why I'm looking at M4/3 and NEX for travel options). If I'm going to slap a big, heavy lens on the body (and have one or two more lenses in the bag), the size of the body becomes rather irrelevant.

Also...nice username, OP haha

The kit 18-55 is a tiny lens and super light, so is the 50 1.8.

I see this camera with a tamron 17-50 which is light to be one amazing travel combo. :) along with the 50 1.8 for low light. would spank any mirrorless system.

That is misleading. they start off saying "with new 18-55" so what they are talking about is the kit lens having IS.

Think about it optical = lens not body.

Coming from someone who clearly has never used any mirrorless systems...

I have friends who use them and I personally hate them. Not for my running around kids.

Only small solution I like is the Sony rx100. That bugger is snappy
