It's a Flickr test. I can't post a photo from Flickr since they "upgraded" me without warning. But I can right click on a photo and copy the link.

I am in contact with their customer service department who tells me their "engineers" are working on a solution. We'll see.

Hey Kim, While you are waiting for them ... here is a cut and paste from their Guide pages and nothing has changed there. I think you may have accidentally changed a setting in your account or there is a glitch that has caused it. What UPGRADE would change that standard feature?

the cut & paste
Where is the HTML code and photo file link?

The HTML code to embed a photo in a web page that you used to find on the All Sizes page is now only in the Share menu on the photo, to the left of the More menu. We now also include BBCode! (standard message board code)

There are a few cases where the code may not be available: 1) If the photo is restricted. 2) If that person has turned off "Share this" or access to original files.

The direct link to a photo file is no longer shown on the page. Per the Flickr Community Guidelines "pages on other websites that display content hosted on flickr.com must provide a link from each photo or video back to its page on Flickr." Linking directly to the photo file doesn't do this.

Hope that helps

.

Rick.

Meanderer,

The sharing link is now on the right side, not below the photo as it was before. There are a couple threads here on POTN explaining the problem. Flickr has chosen to link up with the social media sites first. The sharing links for all the regular ones are up and running: Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, etc. There is no longer a functioning "grab this link" for the BBCode.

I did take your advice and check to see if I had changed anything on my Flickr account that would make the BBCode link disappear. It doesn't look like I did. That and the customer service person said they could duplicate my issue and that it was a Flickr problem, not my own ignorance... so that was refreshing. ;)

HOLY CRAP! Too cool... It even makes the right noises!

But if you were looking for something a little more "earth bound"... and photo related...

Thank you, Pekka! I'm sure some members here might have imagined that POTN might begin winding down. But that doesn't make the news any less disappointing. So generous of you to allow us to go along for the ride. As a result you gave us a way to help each other become better photographers. But there's still so much more to learn.

Lol.... My friend's file is only 2048 on the long side at 72dpi. Hard to edit a small file like that.

It's here! Finally! :D

Too late for any serious testing...

Impressive lack of distortion (look at the straight ceiling lines)!

No flare, shooting directly under the chandelier!

Shooting at ISO 3200, I can't tell whether the lens is soft... only with the light of day... I guess since the EF 24-70 MkII is my walk-around lens... everything else is soft!

Here is the 8 mm look!

Amazed by the lack of distortion.

Can't comment on sharpness since I'm on my phone.
