Um...can we go back to the cheek piercing for a moment? I'm sorry but HOW is that possible?

Gerry, the lens looks great, and maybe I'm the only one noticing but you've also got a very nice house. Just thought I'd throw those two random and completely unrelated thoughts out there. ;-)a

Haha. Surface piercings like that are essentially a small hook that is inserted behind the skin. Pretty gross and IMO not appealing.

Thank you for explaining this for me. BTW, I agree with your assessment completely.

Believe me, I see it way too often at my school.

Had a friend who had them on her neck and another friend with them on her clavicle.

I have my SET button set to do that.

That's what I currently have.

Me, too.

Speaking of flash...I'm gonna need some help.

I wanted to start practicing with flash using ttl. Pretty much I've done manual OCF until now.

Where do I begin to figure out what is going on here. All shots Av mode on camera. No EC or FEC.

This is no flash:

Brenda, try hitting the asterisk button to do a pre-flash (this meters the flash), then take the shot. You also want to make sure you're using the correct metering type (on the flash) for your situation. But, you already know this since you RTFM right?

Oh crap I thought you were using a canon lol...oops. Scratch everything I said. I have no experience with those brands. Also, I always shoot manual (camera) when I use the speedlight. I don't know if other brands also automatically switch to fill light/main light depending on whether you're in Av or Tv.

Probably would've helped if I read your captions haha

I'm probably doing something wrong too, but I have always had similar issues when shooting in AV or TV. Typically just use M for flash.

I'll pass on any body piercings... the thought alone makes me cringe!...

Amber thank you. Now that we are empty nesters, we can fit nicely in a townhouse (no yard for the kids, no pool, no school disrtict to worry about... just close to downtown and social life, theater, symphony, opera...).

Speaking of...

I find the juxtaposition of classic style in the foreground with modern in the background interesting....

If you click on this link you will see the photo in my Photobucket. If you click in the magnifying glass you will get the full resolution photo. There you can see how sharp the lens is, even at the corners...

Nice ones Gerry.

Brenda,

I only use AV or TV in uncontrolled environment or gig like receptions.

If its a controlled situations, i like the full control of the manual mode. And manual flash

Wow. The possibilities of things to shoot for you are endless, at least from my perspective. :)

First few lessons...

a) Metering at 8 mm is a ****! neither spot or evaluative get you there... At least in this weird afternoon light with all the reflections

b) You have to set your focus point at eye level and get the lines perpendicular to the axis of the shot square. Otherwise the photo will appear crooked (see the kitchen bench in the first photo I ever posted)

c) Perspective correction in PS or GIMP will be your constant companion

d) Some of the photos are ridiculously amazing. A totally new perspective!:D

e) At times the lens misses AF... just to spite you...

Hehe the 60D an Ultrawide Monster!:lol:
