Selective color layer in CS5 has saved a few shots, for me.

Good trick Vinz, desaturating the yellows for the CFLs.

@Stro: They flattened the whole half block... For the last year there were no shops left in the Fiesta mall.

What a shame. They tore down some old apt buildings for the HEB. Seems backwards. I say 'they'. Lol...

As advised I have raised my prices. I figured now was a good time since it is slow with the holidays.
Question: How do I get things ramped back up after the holidays. Obviously I am still new at this. :/

Unrelated question: I have seen prints that were mounted on what looked like foam core. Then they were hung on the wall with some sort of foam-looking blocks to make it stand away from the wall (probably about an inch and a half). I understand the foam core mounting for the actual print. What is the mounting for hanging?

Huh..I have seen the foam core mountings but not with the blocks that you mentioned. The ones I've seen have a metal mounting bracket.

I believe they are called cleats. I had my 24x36 print pearl paper mounted on the back of plexiglass, then a thin layer of backing glued to the pearl paper and the two beveled pieces of wood which they called cleats. You mount one (pre-drilled) piece to the wall and then hang the photo matching the bevels like this //.

For foamcore, you can glue pieces of foamcore to the back... of the foamcore... to get the offset from the wall you want and then use picture hangers made out of velcro. One sticks to the wall the other to the cleats.

I should've taken a picture. I will at Christmas time when I go to VA to see my kids. The pics were in the guest house where we will be staying.

A cleat would make sense. I used a cleat to mount an old window to my wall. Any idea where I can get that done? Where would I get the velcro picture hangers?

I saw the Velcro hangers in the supermarket... new item...(I'm into Velcro as you will see shortly...)

The cleats with the diagonal bevel, any woodworking shop could probably make them for you, if you are willing to paint and glue the cleat on the picture.

If you go for the foamcore ones all you need is to find the appropriate thickness foamcore in the Internet and order a piece. You can cut it with an Exacto knife...

Definitely a good gift! My mom has one and serves general purpose well and manual abilities when I want to use it.

On with the Velcro...

Sometime ago I decided, like most, that the Canon EOS strap that came with the camera would be my demise.

I looked into a whole bunch of concepts, a lot of them based on attaching the camera via the tripod mount. I don't like the idea of depending on threads to prevent my camera with a very expensive L MkII lens hitting the pavement if the screw got loose, so I opted for the Optech strap.

Actually I opted for 1 1/2 Optech strap, since I bought the normal strap and the sling extension that allow it to operate like a sling.

All the stuff arrived, along with some little pieces of Velcro. Being man enough not to RTFM, I put the sling together, decided I didn't like it and ended up with a classic strap which is very comfortable and flexible enough to fit my backpack.

I'd noticed a lot of people having doubts about the plastic (backpack style) connectors... What if one of these clips unclips (takes a thumb and another finger but just sayin'...) and your very expensive combo hits the pavement?

Belatedly it dawned on me what these double sided Velcros were for...

Not to be tossed to the trash without RTFM, like I did..

So yesterday I went and got a roll of double sided Velcro (by this I mean one side has hooks and the other side has loops. So if you make a loop of it, it secures on itself. So, I can use it as a safety loop for these Optech clips... or any other similar clip...

I thought you might need this tidbit, now or in the future...
