Congrats! Not much choice for us on the very wide end. Did you describe your selection process or did I miss it? (i.e. the 8-16 vs Canon's 10-22 or the Siggy 10-20?)

BurnUnit Senior Member More info | Dec 06, 2013 22:32 | #6965 Finally got back to this shot that had a bad yellow color cast due to the ambient lighting. Couldn't figure out a way to deal with it in DPP but Vinz fixed it up in LR with an HSL adjustment. The first shot is his work and the yucky yellow cast is gone! I finally got around to dragging my original edit into PS and trying an HSL adjustment there and managed to get something close to Vinz's results. This second shot is my attempt. I think vinz got a bit more contrast and I got a little more shadow detail. Either way it's a big improvement from my original attempt in DPP. The color curves adjustment just wasn't the right tool to try to desaturate one color. The HSL tool was the way to go. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction Vinz! Thank you, Pekka! I'm sure some members here might have imagined that POTN might begin winding down. But that doesn't make the news any less disappointing. So generous of you to allow us to go along for the ride. As a result you gave us a way to help each other become better photographers. But there's still so much more to learn.

The choices were Canon EF-S 10-22 (FF FOV equivalent 16-35), takes filters, has a FF equivalent (2 if you count the less expensive but very capable EF 17-40) Tokina 11-16 f2.8 has FF equivalents, f 2.8 a plus for night shots, reputation for flaring Sigma 8-16 (FF FOV 12-25) has no rectilinear FF equivalents (Canon's UWA zoom is a fisheye), very well corrected distortions, con is it doesn't take filters easily (need home made solution). I liked the fact that it was the widest rectilinear zoom I could get, that there is no equivalent in FF and that is a VERY SHARP lens! I love it! Ah, but there is a FF equiv. of the 8-16. I have the Sigma 12-24, which is actually a bit wider on FF than the 8-16 is on a Canon APS-C (12.8-25.6 mm; it's 12-24 equiv. on the 1.5x crop sensors). Jon

Yep, in back of the lens (so grads aren't too practical). Or you could get the Lee SW-150 (150 mm x 170 mm) size and hand-hold them in front if you want grads. MakisM1 wrote in post #16508582 Jon, Mounted on the crop the FOV of the 12-24 is equivalent to 19.2-38.4. I wanted something wider than this. There is a lot of real estate between 8-12 mm I was addressing your contention that there's no FF equivalent of the 8-16. As your examples make clear, the 12-24 would be a rectilinear FF equivalent in the sense you used it. MakisM1 wrote in post #16508425 Thought process! Yes, I had one... I ordered (through my wife, in her account) some hardware from Amazon. It was supposed to be delivered in a window closing last Wednesday. We got nothing. She looked at her account yesterday and it shows delivered on Monday (left on our front door). Apart from the fact that we live in a gated community which is kinda hard to get to our front door, we've been checking every time we drove in and saw nothing. Amazon is impossible to get on the phone. How do I complain? Have you tried the # on this page? http://askville.amazon.com …wer.do?requestId=73552278 My name is Brenda ~Saved by grace, walking by faith
