yes. i also love how i can control the flash from the transmitter itself. no need to dig into the flash menu on the camera.

i will have another test tomorrow with a white wall and the flash on a stand. it was just a quick test. i was only handholding the flash.

That's great. No such luck for me. Although my flash can sync 1/8000 (not sure what situation it would be good for quite honestly) it can only do so while on-camera or pass-through when mounted on top of Phottix transmitter which is still sort of on-camera. No TTL compatible radio triggers for Olympus yet as far as I know. I can do TTL using optical control flash that came with the camera, but it only works with Olympus flashes and requires line of sight. I don't like that since I still use my canon 430EXII and cheap YN flash units.

By the way, here (external link) is a site that lists all "affordable" triggers (may be a bit outdated though). It states that your Phottix Odin does go up to 1/8000.

Now I need to find some creative ideas for light, sound, IR, or laser triggered photography :) Any suggestions?

Awesome you will have fun with that, I so nearly bought one earlier in the year. First off start shooting things with a gun :) I've seen some amazing shots off fruit and balloons full of water being shot, you can get the exact point of impact or the exit they are so accurate.
I can see me getting one soon....haha

What other parts did you have to purchase in order to put what we see together? I'm interested in doing this.

Haha, well, I don't own a gun but I did think to start with popping water balloons, water drops, and breaking things, in general!

Me too, it will get messy! Nice portraits as usual, CJ.

I actually purchased it already assembled. It is: TriggerTrap V1 unit (external link). The only thing I needed to purchase in addition was the correct cable to interface with my camera. But it already comes with Triggertrap Flash Adapter (two hotshoes) and flash cable so to instantly trigger the flashes (which is what needs to happen to freeze the action) even the camera cable is not required. I can take more pictures of the whole kit later if you are interested. I am not sure if they still sell V1 (I bought it used) but looks like their next version should be available soon: TriggerTrap Ada (external link) which they expect to start shipping in June.

I'm wondering how the laser detection works.

Weird, I couldn't find it by navigating their site earlier. Thanks for the URL. They still sell it.

There is a laser sensor on the unit. You can configure it to trigger a flash when the laser beam is interrupted by an object moving through. I was thinking about using a laser pointer and set it to point to the sensor and once something comes in between to trigger a flash.

That's what I was thinking how it worked. How big is the sensor hole? Might be a chore to aim the laser correctly from afar depending on where it's needed.
