Argghhh... have to take a break from photography... home improvement projects are taking over. Just replaced a dishwasher, installing a new cooktop, not to mention all the yard stuff! Oh yea, then there is that full time job thing. Don't you hate when things gate on the way of your hobby?!

I hate when after work and on weekends I'm too tired to do anything but play video games. Which is more often, these days. I blame age.

Thank you, Pekka! I'm sure some members here might have imagined that POTN might begin winding down. But that doesn't make the news any less disappointing. So generous of you to allow us to go along for the ride. As a result you gave us a way to help each other become better photographers. But there's still so much more to learn.

I used to like the saying "It's better to burn out, than to fade away". Now that I'm burned out, I don't like that saying.

i'm loving natural light now.

Maybe i can bring an off camera flash at its lowest power just to pop the subject and create catchlights while metering for the ambient light. that way my shots will not look flashy.

You could even use a reflector for the catch light.

i usually work alone so reflector for me is a no no.

sometimes though there are some where the sun is behind but can still give you catchlights. a good example is the following pics. (posted before but allow me to post again for the conversation)

this one was also taken with natural light, no reflectors but there's some catchlights. maybe lights reflected from the grass?

how about if i hold a piece of paper besides the camera? it will reflect to the eyes, right? hmmm let me experiment on that.

or maybe i will wear a completely white hat. hmmmm experiment. the sun will hit my hot and into the subject's eyes.

It is probably from the grass/sky.

My last few shoots were on my own with a reflector. It doesn't have to be perfectly placed to get a move catch light
